For Sale & Wanted / WANTED - R/H Mirror for Fazer 1000 Gen 1
« on: 11 May 2023, 10:13:10 am »

Anyone got a decent one they don't need anymore?

I know that you have probably already checked this, but have you made sure the the spring washers on the disc bobbins aren't tired, and the noise is the disc jiggling on the carrier. I had a ZZR600 that did exactly what you describe, and it was the spring washers on the bobbins which had just lost their "Spring".

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Ignition advancer Gen1 ?
« on: 12 August 2021, 12:16:03 pm »

OK, now before i start with this, i know all bikes, even of the same year, make and model are different, so no aspurtions cast here.

I originally sold my Fazer to a mate because i wanted a nicer example, i found one which has been Ivanised by Ivan himself. Unfortunately on bottom end, and 6K rpm roll on tests with my original bike, the new one was found wanting (so i sold it and bought my old one back). So i would say that my bike has a good bottom end as is. I'm a little suspicious that it may already have an advancer fitted, or maybe its just a "good" one. Either way, i think i'll let sleeping dogs lie and not bother fitting one.

Until i can meet up with someone who has one fitted and try a few roll on tests as a comparison.

It sounds a bit like a CBR600Y with a loose camchain.

At least mine did.

Yes, i know this is an old topic. But ive been thinking about getting an advancer. But having read the posts above i dont think i'll bother (unless someone has more info), my bike starts easily without choke if its been started that day, and only needs choke to start after a lay up. It has a dynojet kit and pipe and when dynoed it was about 132 at the wheel. I like the peak power an wouldnt like to sacrifice it for a little bit more mid range. Unless someone has truthful tales about huge mid range gains and tiny top end losses.

Yes, i do want my cake and eat it.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Wanted - Gen 1 Fazer 1000 centre stand.
« on: 30 August 2020, 04:34:37 pm »
My thoughts exactly. Rotary wire brush then hammerite. When you are used to having a centre stand, you really miss it when you don't have one. Of course it was typical that my EXUP pulley failed at this time along with the bike ramp we have in the clubhouse. Rolling round on the bloody floor again!!!

Just ordered a second hand one from Poland. £50 delivered. Looks ok, but you never know till it's in your hands really.

Hi everyone, I noticed when I was in France fully loaded with the missus on the back that the centre stand was looking a bit rotty.  Has anyone got a decent one they want to sell?

I don't think he's answering any more, I've sent PM's asking to come down with cash for the faring and the infils and I'm getting nothing back. He was last active on the 7th July.

I'm back. Wow, what a week! The weather was fantastic, the beer and wine were cheap (in the shops), the riding was excellent. As long as you have a mask in your pocket everything is ok, just stick it on in shops and you're away. Some of the roads through the Parc de Morvan were stunning.

Going back in two weeks from today in the car with the Mrs and kids.

Cant wait!

I know what you mean about the aborted trips, ive lost count of the number of times ive had to unload all the crap back at home, again. I go there now expecting it to be closed.

Yeah BBROWN, it would be helpful if the Decheterie could just pick a time to be open and bloody stick to it. My local one just opens when if feels like, its shut for 2 hours in the middle of the day when it is open, and its closed when the opening times are clearly marked on the (frequently changed) board outside the gates says it's supposed to be open. To be French eh? What a life!!! Turn up to work if you want to, don't worry about the money, the European Union will pay for it.

Oh we will Dazza. I cant figure out why we don't have more people clamouring to come with us, ten euros for the week each, just to go towards the electricity and water (even I put €10 in the pot and its my house!), but then again, its probably us lot putting them off.

I'm not spending a week with that bunch of dickheads :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Ok so we seem to be erring on the side of the Versys 1000, the 2012 model is about 118 bhp, but delivers it power quite low down. But as someone mentioned, new rider, new to bikes, he will probably drop it at some point, paying £6K for a bike then dropping it and doing some damage makes my skin crawl, and its not even my bike! How about a Varadero 1000, they are very cheap, big enough so he wont look like a monkey on a mangle, 90 odd bhp, easy to ride if a bit boring for the more seasoned riders, but as a starter bike which you would only lose a couple of hundred quid on if you dropped it, instead of trying to put a nice versys back to standard after a drop, it sounds like a better bet. Fit a couple of manual cam chain tensioners (about £100) and ride around with no worries. Keep it for a year, make all the mistakes, flog it and then buy something nice for £6K.

This was booked just before Christmas, so we have all been praying that they lifted the travel ban/quarantine for the last couple of months. And they did, just in time.

The weather is looking good, high 20's to low 30's and sunny, just perfect.

I cant wait, screaming the Fazer through the beautiful forests of the Parc de Morvan, beers, wine and G+T's on the patio till late, music, a bit of bad dad dancing, laughs, obscenely offensive outfits, Time Bombs (Red wine and Cider), so called because you get very suddenly drunk, I cant bloody wait!

Actually, forget the Grille, just looked closer and there is one on it already. So its just the Radiator end covers I need.

Blind and stupid, not a good combination!

Actually, I've just called the shop and they have managed to get the nipple out!

Thanks for the offer though.
