Title: Two Questions...
Post by: dangerdre on 09 December 2019, 07:03:59 pm
I've had a look all over and can't find the torque value for the two bolts holding the cowl/headlight stay to the head tube, does anyone know?
And, does anyone know where I can get the Fazer decals for each side of the nose cowl - 5DM-28390-00 ? I've looked everywhere and have them ordered twice so far and then refunded, when the supplier can't actually get them. I've a brand new fairing to fit but no decals.

Try these, I've had a few bits from them and they've always been very helpful and top quality.

Nah...that 33NM is for the mirror stays which are also called cowl stays in the manual although that's probably not far off what the actual bracket is  - strange that I can't find it listed anywhere.
I got the decals eventually off CMSNL - at first when I glanced at them I thought they were wrong with yellow in them, not realising this was just the backing.

Thanks for the help.

General tightening torques are given on page 2-17 of the Yamaha Service manual with 15Nm for an M8 thread.  That seems a bit low to me I'd probably go for mid 20s

if your ever unsure check out

they are most likely class 8.8 bolts - most likely if not stamped otherwise
