Hey Dave ,
greetings from Caerphilly from Karen (CBR650f) and myself on my Fz1 fazer with Deks full system on it now :D

Been out for a little run today , a friend Tracey aka Tracey's Romanian charity ride, we saw her off she's riding 21 countrys in 30days I beleive.
But not on a 125 as brave as Amanda mate. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. :)

It was great to meet you  at the farmhouse mate we had a varied day after we left I dropped out for a while with a bad migraine, so we took a train ride up but that failed due to bad weather and I had to get off as I was sick behind the station stop 5/8 up.
So later karen and I tried to get to Snowdon summit and , near made it ....but migraine re-appeared and my vision went so I had to sit for a while till it came back so we could descend in gale force winds...... so Snowdon beat us again.
We got home at 23:30 hours and drove through some bad weather . Thinking of you guys as we did.

Catch up soon and pass on our best to Amanda and good luck on her test. ;)

Ride safe.

Best regards.

Dave n Karen.

Have a google for anti bark collars, they come in many guises  [...] Of these I would go the electric shock way as I know for a fact it works, and very quickly.

Especially when you put the collar around the owner's neck...! :D

I like Grahamm's view on it  :lol :lol

General / Back on a Fz1 Fazer and never felt better
« on: 29 May 2014, 04:57:53 am »
Well I bought a mates bike, a 2007 heavily modded Fz1 fazer , but sadly neglected a little.
Work started on the Header pipes rusty corroded and looking dreadful. ( Road in the winter and left uncleaned till May)

Ended up buying Dek's Full Akrapovic and replacing all the header bolts with new stainless studs , breaking 2 in the process and drilling and tap and die set to finish always hate that job lols.

Dek was kind enough to send the map along with the system.

So a Bank holiday spin out and what a ride, the 170rwbhp R1 I have will be laid up for most of the summer I'm sure of that.
Off to France on Monday next week

the  Akra end can ran well and sounded good , nice deep growl but not offensively loud ... with baffle in it's too quiet and was a tad fluffy on the gas, it had a custom map with baffle out on the dyno so I left it out.

There was no bottom end grunt loss at all as the secondary butterflies were taken out so at 2500rpm she has 10bhp over stock and was 140.9 rwbhp
- that was  with the Akra end can and lars air box mod, graves block off plates  and as said custom mapped and K&N air filter.

Now she has Deks map , or Dukes map perfection with the full Akrapovic in place and dyno showed a 9bhp rise on the dyno and good fuelling air fuel ratio checked running well, now showing 150rwbhp.
But better still It now wheelies off the throttle and the mid range and top end just kept pulling up to 12,000rpm. :)

I rode 211 miles around Welsh roads on Bank holiday Monday and had a play with a 2008 Hyabusa and left  a 2006 R1 in my wake several times
The Busa guy "Stan" stopped at Newtown cafe Mid Wales and commented on how strong I was pulling away from him. :evil

So mega pleased with Deks full Akra system it's bonkers!!  :lol

But the ride on Monday last was lifting to say the least, in all areas.

It's good to be back and thanks to Devil's Yam aka Luke and Dek for being top foccers.

Great forum.

Ride /stay safe all. :)

Hi , I have a Akrapovic end can on at the moment onto stock front header /down pipes.

If so I'm very interested :D

Hey your very welcome Dek.
Luke nice one I shall purchase some Hycote and wait for the winter .
I will get the metal / water oil cooler metal pipes that are rusty and whip them off and get them all powder coated.
So drilled out 2 broken studs and got 6 original corroded buggers out.
New system looks amazing and the weight difference is bonkers.
Again thanks to the Foccers and new map Dek sent I managed to load the perfection map onto the pc111 all I need now is too get back home and some sunshine to go and ride her .

I'm sure it will be a world of difference.
The guy I bought the bike off had been messing so the custom map that was dialled in had been removed and a map for a slip on with air box mod was loaded , why the custom map was removed is beyond me ??

I shall let you guys know and start a new thread.

Ride safe all have a good weekend.

Cheers

Rusty.

Hey , Dek  yer it was a tough time. I ended up seeing a councillor for a few months but my daughter and I got through it. Yer 22 yrs as a couple and bang gone in a 3 weeks.

I had major spinal surgery at the Heath Hospital so titanium cages in my first 5 vertabrae and 8 wks off work and some physio.
First time back on the bike was May last year so 9 months away from the R1 , first ride I was very nervous and any speed over 90mph was too painful.

But I did do the Nurburgring the Autumn before in case the surgery left my with a stroke or paralysis but I was lucky and make a 95% recovery.

Just a small problem with my left arm when I straighten it. :rolleyes  Not sure if it was the surgery or the car accident i was in ( passenger a few months back)
  :D
So yer this year a Gen 2 Fz1 fazer and I can't wait to fit the full Akrapovic you sent and ride to France with my fiancee who has her own baby blade {but too worried to ride her own bike across the pond} she has a  CBR500R now and passed her test and got her 1st bike the first summer we met 2009 ( myex physio at the hospital). :evil

So looking forward to getting across the water of The Gen 2 Fz1 and having fun again mate.

Just out of curiosity what model Renthal's were they as I'm about to buy a pair in gold too ?? thanks again Dek for the full system it will be here in a few hours I'm sure and I have bought all stainless new header bolts nuts n washers and plan to srip all the corroded pipes off and repaint the silver engine
. ;)

Hey Dek , it does . laughing out loudly . That was some year , You me, Driller (rip mate} battling nae sayers.
Ivan with his FCE and all the shanigans quite a ride.

Sadly my wife of 20 years lost her mum , mid life crises enveloped she had a sordid affair and my daughter 14 then and I stayed together.
Then redundancy and a bad bike smash with a Ambulance overtaking on a blind bend near finished me off.

But my daughter is in Bristol uni , hands off Matty pmsl!
I'm a systems engineer now and diagnostics fault finding skills in motorcycles has progressed lots.

I bought this Fz1 again to take my new Fiancee over the water and through the French Alps :D

I knew the bike and did all the work never done more than 130mph fsh and set up nicely.
WP rear shock and K-tech front internals in the forks, Gilles rear sets, Pazzo's, Akrapovic carbon end can, a Yamaha Comfort seat  and a PC111 USB with custom map,
secondary flys out and Lars airbox mod, de-catted and AIS binned too , so she about 140 rwbhp or a incy bit under pulls like a train

So after all that I still have a tuned R1 2008 with 170rwbhp and now a Blue fz1 fazer that needs a tidy exhaust after the previous owner dented the headers .......... :o

A very big thank you and you'll find the ££££ sent already Dek.

P.S. Love to see some pictures of the New BmW s1000rr :b

Hi all, with sad heart I read his only today.

After some life changing events a few years ago, I haven't been on here for a long time.

My deepest sympathy to John's family and friends.

I had the good fortune to have met John back in 2006 and kept in touch till early 2009. After sad news myself I dropped awy.

John was a true friend and a great biker brother.

On wings of Angels may you ride.

Signed , nice one.

17
sorry just saw it's a Fazer gen 1 :o  lols.

Get it looked at and let us know  :)

18
Check the brakes first for meatl on metal /any meat left on pads , then check chain adjustment ( with a mate with you sat on the bike)

Clutch basket get the cover off or book it in for a check.

The clutch worn out or broken would not make your front brakes in-op so I would start on those1st as they are the most important bit.

But what bike , what miles on it , do you maintain it yourself , when was it serviced last and the miles on her ??

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: tank slapper help needed
« on: 24 July 2012, 03:00:28 am »
You 2 suspension set up's one for solo riding and one for you and the good lady.

To stop your tank slappers or bar wobbles do the following;

1/ Decrease front rebound , the slot in the middle on the top of your forks ( anti clockwise about 3-4 clicks or half a turn out)
2/Increase the rear rebound ( normally on the bottom of a shock slotted for your screwdriver take it clockwise=harder in about 2-3 turns)
3/ Rear compression on the top of your rear shock(if you have that on it- turn it in/clockwise about 1/2 turn 3 clicks)
4/ Lower the front ( drop the forks through about 2mm at a time max of 4mm) or raise the rear a few m.

Tyre pressures as already said make sure you have them at 36-42.

Bar weights will make the bars buzzy and give numb hands without , but won't make your bike tank slap.

I just read its a FZ1 n , I had one in 2006 and was the first guy in the uk to strip the airbox out and mod the fuelling and injection system to make it better and less snatchy.

The stock shock never gave me any tank slappers as I has set up the sag for me at 35mm for fast road and it worked, but the rear shock I binned as it was pathetic aftermarket or get it revalved and re-freshed imho. ( I do a lot of this  foc for mates)

Cheapest things to try is tyre pressures and then get it set up for you.

Any advice on set up you need let me know and i will get back to you when I can .

Safe riding. ;)

I always check on Bike insurer and then ring my broker , I found it £127 cheaper on line quote with Bike insurer..... and it was my own insurance  company :rolleyes  so I rang them back and asked how come??
They were great no arguement so I'm with Motorcycle direct again. 198.00 Fully comp and a modified R1 with extra's included .  :D

With B.C on this one Aj, ebc I'd go for but tbh they ain't cheap either.

I did try a Armstrong rear wavy disc to tart the R1 up a bit on the rear and that comes with a 12 mth warranty no probs so far.
