Yamaha
All Yamaha models from Model Year 1990 are compatible with E10.

Checking for my wife's Honda it comes up with the additional comments about cold weather conditions presumably an increased risk of carb icing.

Honda
E10 petrol is cleared for use in all European models with petrol engines equipped with electronic control fuel injection system (HONDA PGM-FI).

All Honda motorcycles and mopeds produced for the EU market since 1993 can use ethanol-blended gasoline up to 10% although carburettor-equipped models could experience poor driveability in cold weather conditions.

The thermostat housing should have the connection for the short pipe

Does the knock go away when you pull the clutch in with the bike in neutral at tick over?  The clutch baskets can rattled/knock at idle in neutral and it is not a problem.

When a vehicle colour is changed the owner should inform the DVLA by sending the V5C back with details of the change and a new V5C will be issued showing the new details.

Check the glass hasn't had a knock pushing it in so the needle is catching on the back of the glass stopping it moving smoothly

Been meaning to replace my temporary insulating tape repair with a permanent heat shrink solution but the tape lasted about 10 years now

Changing from conventional antifreeze to new organic acid long life antifreeze can cause deposits to form and these collect in the narrow carb heater pipes.

I think I got terminals that fitted the connector block from these guys when I did the mod

General tightening torques are given on page 2-17 of the Yamaha Service manual with 15Nm for an M8 thread.  That seems a bit low to me I'd probably go for mid 20s

That looks like it gos to 8 - everyone knows Fazers only have 7 gears  :lol
The heading says 6 speed so what happens when you change up into 7th gear for motorway cruising?  Looks like they didn't set it up for the UK spec 7 gear models

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Re-fitting rear Fuel Tank bracket - parts order
« on: 05 December 2019, 08:38:50 pm »
Yamaha made it like that for a reason… probably something along the lines of not wanting the tank to empty 3 gallons of fuel onto your feet due to a stress fracture.  :lol

Or on to the still running engine when you drop/get knocked off the bike and the tank acts as a stressed member when the frame flexes

The bracket is meant to be quite loose, without the tank on it it will move easily.  When the tank goes on it will all firm up.

The distance between the mounting bolts is different

18
The air gap measurement allows for the volume displaced by the standard springs.  Even if you fitted different springs the difference in the volume displaced would be minimal.

I bought the fleabay short ones and have no complaints except once I fitted them decided I preferred the longer ones so got a set of the longer ones too

I recently bought a set of autokicker panniers (granted they were for a thou). Really well made and inexpensive. Pretty pleased with them so far.

I read that wrong and thought you were recommending panniers that cost £1,000 😳

FZS600 Fazer / Re: What downpipes are these?
« on: 22 May 2019, 08:42:58 am »
I got a set from Sandy Bike Spares that didn't have the link pipe and the bracket for the footrest didn't line up, I think I ended up cutting the hole to turn it into an open ended slot.  They will have been early Chinese copies, Sandy Bike Spares are now Black Widow Exhausts but the current ones they offer are different with separate header pipes and collector box.  I think the ones I had had a larger connector pipe than standard that meant the end can fitted directly on without the gasket

Disconnect the battery negative lead first to prevent accidentally shorting the positive to the frame
