Nogster. Firstly, congrats, being a dad rocks..secondly...I'm a father of two, a grandfather of four. My kids are all grown up( sons 36, daughters 25) and the one thing for certain in all this debate is this..if you lose your bikes now once the nipper is here it will be approx ten years before you get another. There will always be something to take priority once you've got a littlun. If you actually worked out how much it realistically costs to bring up a kid it would astound you. Once you've got the baby, unless your wealthy which none of us are, you won't be getting a bike again for a lonnnnnnnnng time...Trust me on this..but, if you already have a bike, whether it's your 3 grand fz1 or a ratty old five hundred quid 600, you've got it, you can keep it, no matter how many arrive over the years from "noggys rod of plenty". ( once wimmin start having em they tend to want more...)
Keep the faith my friend... ;)

True dat!

Bungs for drops, bars for crashes.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Tyre choice / Ground clearance
« on: 05 June 2014, 01:30:16 pm »
Check your pre-load, take the antennas off the pegs, maybe change to a 55 profile rear tyre, lean off the bike more.
The rear is easy to ride on the edge, if your not taking all of the front tyre, lean more.
Conti sport attacks seem to have more edge to get it really low.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: dual compound rear tyre - worth having ?

If your shredding your tyres after 1500 miles there's a good chance your suspension is set up wrong.

Beemer warranty is the best there is.
On my last two, ANY problems that reared their ugly head was dealt with under warranty, not one question asked.
A good example, I had a battery die on me in Portugal. I didn't fancy a 3hr drive to Faro to go to the bike dealers so I went to a Beemer car dealership instead, they ordered the battery and it was delivered to the car dealership at no cost.
Try that with your Honda or Suzuki...

General / Re: Germany Calling
« on: 01 June 2014, 03:25:04 pm »
Bear in mind that the Germans are sticklers for the speed limit.
If your in a 70 limit and it goes down to 50, we would ease off the gas but the Germans will slam on their brakes, especially on the motorways.

Shame they weren't out when I sold my K1300R because I would of bought one on the spot.

My FZ1 is a weak comparison.

Yep, after GenII ones that the arm goes through the frame.
Mattsplatt, i got lucky and i was able to reverse the gear rod position and they go through the frame. :)

Cool, got any pics?

The DanMoto ones are the right price and if the control arm can be made to go through the frame...

Lots of people make them.

Or you can do it yourself with lexan and a tig welder.

It's a toll road that's explicitly listed in a lot of UK policies as not covered. This type of clause has started coming in over the last few years, as a result of the type of court case you're talking about, Matt.

A friend of mine crashed there 10 years ago, wrote his fireblade off. The ins tried to wriggle, claiming it's a racetrack, he won then, but he wouldn't now.

Looks like your spot on Rich.

You ARE insured to ride on the ring, its not a racetrack, its a public toll road.

The insurance company will deny that you are covered but its been taken to court a few times here and the insurance companies have lost their case.

I repeat, its a toll road.
