Just bought a new FZ8 ABS...and I don't think you get value for money even though it is one of the best bikes to ride. For the money one would have thought that a centre stand would be standard fit! Are there any after market stands for them and has anyone fitted scottoiler on one of these. I also need crash bungs if anyone knows where I could get some without paying Yamaha prices.
Yamaha do a centre stand as an accessory for the FZ8, part number is 39p-f71a0-v0-00

The Oxford optimiser will be fine as it is also a constant voltage charger and the OEM battery is a Yuasa YTZ10S.

All Optimates chargers since 1995 are Constant Voltage Chargers, but post the model you have and I will let you know for sure

Part number: 5DM-W001A-00-00 has been superceded by 5DM-W001A-01-00. Usually when parts are updated they change the last digits, in this case 00 is the first version and 01 is the updated version.

Saw exactly 140 on the clock two up on a motorway coming back from a MotoGP race in 2004. Not saying where, but I was doing 110 and every bike and car seemed to be passing me, so I said Foc this and followed them.

Check the colant level in the radiator, you may have a leak as low coolant can play havoc with the choke system and have strange effects on the throttle system. If coolant is low top it up and problem should resolve itself, then check for leaks when cold and hot.

Good to see you got it sorted, did not realise it was happening prior to Ivanising. I had a similar problem a few years ago on a 600 fazer and changing the cap cured it. When I dismantled the old cap I found corrosion between the resistor and the brass contacts. Cleaned it, sprayed with WD40 and used it later on a 600 with a broken cap and it has been working fine since. (Well he has never come back to me about it). I posted a piece on fitting stick coils yesterday, not a mod I would go with as there is a real possibility of burning out the power transistor of CDI. See my post reply in http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,11291.0.html

Always new there was an XJ400L learner special but never realised they had a Fazer 400 version. Most likely you have the only one outside Japan

Sounds like a piece of metal in the pilot system from the Ivanising modification. If misfire/splutter is one cylinder then it is most likely carb related. Swap the coils and plug cas and see it it changes. If it does its plug caps if not its the pilot circuit. When you had the carbs off did you remove the pilot screws and blow out the orifices? Somebody on the forum had this problem and posted it some time ago

The problem with this mod with 1.6 ohm coils is that if you parallel them you double the current flow through the power transistor in the CDI and if you put them in series you will only have 6volts per coil and less current. Standard Coil is 1.87 to 2.53 ohms primary resistance Starndard coils operate at about 6 amps "Parallel" could burn out the CDI (12 volts 12 amps) "Series" will give a very weak spark. (6 volts and 3 amps) You would need Stick coils with a primary resistance of about 3 ohms to be safe as this would give the about the same current flow.

These are the best for a pernament repair, it is a patch and a plug in one. It is the Minicombi Patch plug as Robby boy stated Needs to have the tyre remover to do it and balanced afterwards. I have a packet of these Stop and Go plugs under the seat as a get me home and they are almost as good as the minicombi

It appears to have a lot of the xjr400 front. Notice the speedo cable from the front wheel. Any parts which start with 4HM are from the XJR400, The front wheel and discs for the fazer 400 and 600 are the same as the XJR400
