Must go: my red Fazer 600 2003 (tuning forks on tank).

Miles: 76,692

Problem: turns over but doesn't start. Likely to be furred up pilot jets. More here: https://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?topic=27764.0
Also could need new fuel lines.

Location: Coney Hall, near West Wickham and Bromley, Kent.

Opportunity: If you can get it going it can be sold for a good few hundred quid to someone outside ULEZ, or broken if not. Or use it yourself and take it over 100,000!

Price: donation to St Christopher's Hospice or Motor Neurone; best offer.

FZS600 Fazer / Restarting bike after many years unused
« on: 24 June 2023, 08:56:26 am »

My 2003 Fazer has been unused since about 2015. For time it's been in a garage. This summer I've bought a new battery and changed the petrol. When I press the ignition button it turns over, and seems to want to start, but just won't.

Could it be because the petrol between the fuel tank and the carbs is still the old stuff? If so is it a question of trying and retrying until the new fuel reaches the engine? Or are there other likely causes?

Thanks for any help.

For Sale & Wanted / Train ticket London to York Thursday 5 May
« on: 01 May 2016, 09:22:38 pm »
Bought but no longer needed. Yours for my expenses i.e. cost of stamp or bus fare to hand deliver. It's a single ticket on the 13:08 from Kings Cross in the 'quiet' coach (although there's always free seats elsewhere on the train if you prefer).

General / Surely not even foc-u can help me here

Got a tune on my brain, from late 70s or early 80s. Not sure if it's really famous (like ACDC or something) and I'm being dense or someone obscure (like Girlschool, remember them?).

Anyway, seeing as a tune cannot be described in writing, here's the next best thing: an online keyboard  :eek

If you have a second (and are knocking on a bit) would you please copy this string of letters (i.e. highlight then then right-click copy):
reqlk  h h  reqlk  h h  reqlk kkkkl llllh

Then go to http://www.buttonbass.com/PlayerPiano.html

On that screen should be a keyboard. Above it is some buttons, click 'Clear' then paste into the box above that. Then click the green 'Play' button - it's the only bit of the song I can remember and I'm not sure about the third bit.

So... name that song!!!

General / Getting money out of Spain
« on: 19 June 2015, 07:14:32 pm »
Seeing as a few of you have Spanish properties / live in Spain...

Someone I know has money in an account at a Spanish bank. He's now living in London and would like a UK bank account so that he can have a debit & credit card in GBP.

Today we went to Santander (the bank, not the place) and they said that money could be transferred from Santander in Spain but, like money transferred from any other bank in the world, there would be charges to pay.

So is there a way to get money transferred without or with minimal charges?

Fazer 400 and other models / Some South American Fazers

Not a very common sight, but saw these three on my travels. I think that they are all 150cc engines. Generally they have the title "Midship" and are faired, the non-fared being of the FZ name.

General / Lose weight, but not easily
« on: 30 April 2015, 10:52:37 pm »
I've lost about one and a half stone in the last year. It's been slow but steady - not a crash diet.

How? By cutting out one ingredient: processed sugar. I haven't restricted my diet in any other way. For two months (Jan -Mar this year) I ate a big bowl of popcorn every evening :) I've just eaten what I fancied.

Sounds easy, but it's bloody difficult because processed sugar is in everything. Not just sweet things, not just ready meals or tinned food or packeted food, but in stuff like tomato ketchup, bread, stock cubes, flavoured yoghurt, twiglets (gutted!), flavoured crisps, pies, anything with a bbq flavour, anything with a fruit flavour, things that've had something done to them (e.g. spicy beetroot, sold in the Fresh Veg section alongside ordinary beetroot), almost all breakfast cereals (including muesli, Wheetabix and flavoured Shredded Wheat), even things that say "All Natural Ingredients" or "Made to a Traditional Recipe" will likely contain processed sugar.

And in fact I'm not 100% sure if the weight loss is due to losing the one ingredient or to the change in my diet from convenient to self-made foods.

However whatever the reason, that weight has gone since cutting out processed sugar. So if you want to lose weight *just* cut out the processed sugar :D

« on: 16 October 2014, 10:38:23 am »
Any tips on what to look for or how to choose? I'll probably go for one that is plugged in via a USB cable, but that still leaves a large array of choices of all prices. Anyone got a clue coz I aint!

General / Help needed with saws
« on: 20 September 2014, 01:33:59 pm »
Or.. help sawly needed :groan

After a rough few years, my Mum has been streamlining her house and has found that she has several saws. She'd like to have some of them handy and give the rest to charity shops, however neither I nor her know much about them.

The help we need is to pick out say one of each type to keep and to understand what each one of for, how it can be used.

I took these pictures; I've no idea if the angles or the ruler are helpful so if other views would be more helpful just say.

Comments on even one or two would be most helpful, thank you.

General / What do people usually say?
« on: 16 September 2014, 10:26:07 pm »
Non-motorbike thread :)

I make bread and when people find out they always say:
1) Do you have a bread machine?
and then a bit later,
2) Do you make it with seed mixes?

What do people always say when you tell them something you do?

Front page / Aegis - cometh the hour!
« on: 10 September 2014, 02:28:32 pm »
I think it's about 10 years ago that I became a foc-u moderator, then a few years later an Administrator, then in 2011 I took over from TCat as head honcho. For 9 of those years I've had great fun and really enjoyed helping out. It's been an honour to run an important part of such a great club. Moving the board over from Yuku was challenging and a good experience.

However for the past year I haven't been as enthusiastic and have come on here less and less (I'm sure some of you are thinking "Who's this bloke?"), so I am standing down - the board needs and deserves an active admod team.

So to announce that Aegis is taking over as head admin. I've made many mistakes but offering admin to him wasn't one of them and I'm really happy he's agreed to take it over. Please cooperate with him as you have with me.

Thanks to all the members, new and old, who make this board and club what it is, whatever that is. Now stop reading this tosh and get it ridden!

General / How do these work???
« on: 30 May 2014, 09:16:09 am »
Saw these in a shop in Spain:

It's got two plates, as if you would put the goods on one side and weights on the other, but that doesn't make sense as it has that big needle thing and a dial.
So question 1: why two plates?
Question 2 is: the top row goes up to 1kg, but what are the other 'rows' for?

General / How to turn Tapatalk off?
« on: 25 May 2014, 09:36:55 am »
I often say to smart phone users 'Try turning Tapatalk off to see what you think of the site's default mobile skin' however not having the app myself I have no idea how to do this.

So how does one turn it off? Ta :)
