Change fuel filter

(1/2) > >>

Bazza123:
Hello all
Servicing the bike at present whilst the weather is poor. I have a new fuel filter to fit - bit of a noob question though - how is the old one removed? It seems tightly wedged against the bracket that crosses the frame. Does this need removing first? Haines doesn’t say much about it.

 Any help much appreciated.

darrsi:
Just loosen the bracket (a few screws from memory) then shove it out the way enough to get to it.
Stick a rag under the old filter (and fuel tank rubber pipe) to catch any petrol that will slightly leak out.....and don't forget to turn the fuel tap back on to full On position before refitting the tank.

bandit:
And if you have them (later bikes didn't), when you lower the fuel tank give the pipes under the bike near centre stand a good tug, they can get kinked & cause a vacuum to build up & when you go to open the fuel tank it can blow fuel into your face.

No pipes on his bike, should be the same as mine and have the rubber cup instead that the metal breather pipes drop in to.

unfazed:
Think this covers it
