For Sale & Wanted / Re: FZS1000 Radiator wanted 5LV124610000
« on: 05 August 2016, 07:53:20 pm »
Have a look at rad repair shops it can work out cheaper to get them to do it and referb to new than get seconhand unit.
They will also flush and pressure chech + you get a warrantee.

Or there is the China option but you will have to wait and I have no idea what they are like or if will fit ?

Good luck

I bought a rad from China, it arrived in one week which I was impressed and I didn't get charged import duty either, so a result. But baca use of other issues I haven't fitted it yet😟

Did you try any lubricant? That usually works, I have in the past used washing liquid.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Heater hoses disconnected?
« on: 20 September 2015, 04:57:09 pm »
I disconnected my carb heaters because one of the hoses split causing a water leak, I have had no issues with riding in cold weather below 10℃

« on: 13 September 2015, 11:36:48 am »
You say the coils are new but are the second hand ones? If so have a look at the pins inside where the leads go, mine has corroded and broke off , I had a stutter at low revs and I modded my bike to stick coils, no more leads to go wrong and only one cylinder to be affected if a cool fails.

Carb heater plumbing has been removed along with the ais kit, so someone who previously owned it has known a few of the mods :thumbup
What benefits does removing the carb warming pipes make? I have removed mine because one of mine split causing a water leak, as Yamaha want stupid money for them I blanked off the inlet/outlet and removed the pipes.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Very poor running problem
« on: 13 August 2015, 10:40:48 pm »
Mine had a similar fault and the coils had corrosion where the leads went in, and on one the pin had broke off. I modified my bike by going to 4 individual stick coils, I have had no issues since.

« on: 13 August 2015, 10:38:14 pm »
I made the same mistake from halfords, as my bike is high mileage and is a cat D it won't be worth a lot so I modified the rear of the air box to fit it, I couldn't return mine as I had had it too long.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fazers in Austria and Hungary
« on: 08 August 2015, 09:19:02 am »
The Fazer doesn't seem to be that popular in Europe, I am staying in Hungary after passing through Austria and I have only seen one Fazer which was a FZ1 in Austria, unfortunately I'm in the car as I couldn't carry the mother-in-law and step son as well.

I had the same problem, I took my carbs off to clean them.

Anyone had a problem where the internal screws come loose? I had a problem recently where my indicators stopped working, but if I moved the key they would work, but a short time later they stopped again, eventually I noticed the barrel housing was moving, I took the barrel off the bike used a dremel so I could remove the 2 shear screws and tightened up both screws, the barrel I have is a replacement but there was no signs it had been taken apart, apart from the covering blanks being missing.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Removing valve cover
« on: 12 June 2015, 04:58:50 pm »
How come both Haynes manuals and the Yamaha manual say you have to remove the radiator and carbs to remove the valve cover? I have just removed mine without doing all that, but now I have a bigger job, rubbing it down for painting as it is in a bad state, and there are none on eBay.

General / Re: Copper slip on Exhaust Studs?
« on: 26 May 2015, 06:37:24 pm »
As to the studs breaking mine were in a right state, the top clamps had rotted away, the studs were thinner than they should have been and the nuts were no longer recognisable as nuts, I had to cut the exhaust off, and all my studs came off by unscrewing, I had a few tense moments, I did apply some heat to the stud and I used a stud extractor, when I replaced the studs I got mine from a local Vauxhall dealer as they were cheaper than Yamaha and I bought dome head stainless nuts, no more hassle getting those off in the future.

Mine had something similar last year and it wasn't the battery, but I cannot remember what it was unless I look through my posts.

There is not one lock set for sale for the gen 1 on UK eBay at the moment. You maybe lucky with that one on eBay that is breaking otherwise you could try some bike breakers, I think there is a Fazer breaker near Bristol but when I last called them they wasn't that cheap.

44
It took me a year to get a lock set from eBay for my 2002 Fazer, they are pretty rare and you can't buy from the states as they are different, most lock sets are from the 2003 on bikes, before buying ask the seller if the wiring has 7 wires or 5 wires, a 02 bike will have 7 wires.

« on: 15 May 2015, 09:02:46 pm »
It is cheaper to buy the gaskets from your local Yamaha dealer than it is from eBay, I found that last years when I was buying gaskets.

My brakes are fine after vacuum bleeding, I certainly took less time and hassle using the vacuum kit so I would use again

General / iPhone 6 plus
« on: 11 March 2015, 09:51:57 pm »
Got myself a iPhone 6 plus yesterday, what a massive difference to the iPhone 5 in battery life, I have been using the Internet a lot and had the Bluetooth on and I still have 40% battery life, with the 5 it was gasping for energy. And I had 18mb internet speeds inside a building and a 5mb upload speed which is faster than virgin media 50mb fibre optic broad band!!

Ebike do short term policies, daily and monthly, monthly work out cheaper, it is like a pay as you go.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Taking my bike off the road
« on: 11 January 2015, 02:44:25 pm »
Well the scoot is turning out to be a pain, typical Italian electrics and stupid design, the regulator is goosed and they are a common thing to go, the power stand doesn't work nor does the headlights, as to the design PIaggio were clever in that they fitted a power main stand, but not so clever in that they didn't put a means to use it manually, but the other stupid part of the design is the oil filter is right above the main stand which is in the up position. Also there is an intercom system that works occasionally and the instruments are not very waterproof!!!
I'm glad it was cheap as I wouldn't want to pay top price for this bike in its present condition. So I have 2 projects.
