FZ6 / Fazer / Front mudguard question
« on: 29 June 2015, 04:40:37 pm »
Does anyone know if an S2 front mudguard will fit a 2004 FZ6 Fazer? Or can it be made to fit?
Got a crack in mine and can't find a cheap replacement - apart from an S2 one.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Tall / touring screen
« on: 29 July 2013, 09:27:43 pm »
Thanks for the advice guys. If you see someone bobbing up & down on an FZ6 it's likley to be me.

Screen on the FZ doesn't seem much different to the old FZS in height - but that was a flip-up.

Anyone know of a sensibly priced taller or touring screen that works for my '04 FZ6. I'm 6' tall but long body so getting a bit of a battering with standard screen.
Are there any decent add-ons to the original screen?

Also, could do with a second hand luggage rack and fittings if anyone has one laying around.

The old FZS was so much more practical and easier to to buy accessories for!

Usually get a nod returned here in Gloucestershire - although seems to be more during the week day commute than at weekends.

Had a massive wave from some bloke going in the opposite direction on the M5 the other day. He was not easy to miss, dressed head to toe (inc. helmet) in day-glo green.

Hi Moore

I'd be happy to split the cost of delivery - so how about £75 delivered?

If that's acceptable email me to discuss transfer of funds / goods.

Had a bit of a garage clearout and have the following for sale:

1 x OE end can in excellent condition
4 x NGK plugs (CR9E) new
1 x oil filter new

I also have a Haynes manual covering  the FZS & YZF '96 to '03 in excellent condition.

Not sure how best to price them up...... I was thinking £70 for the lot, or make me an offer for individual items.

Never used to notice too much difference on the FZS600 but have noticed an increase on the FZ6.
Mind you it's been a long old slog through the winter ( I think the bike coped better than I did) but, now it's warm and dry(ish), I've probably been riding it a lot harder than usual :evil . Certainly got me smiling again on the daily commute :D

Renault Scenic  - as bad as the rest.
Fortunately Halfords have a skinny young fella with universal joints at wrist and elbow. :lol

Fitted bulb in a couple of minutes.

Well worth the extra cost.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: HELP! Seized front sprocket nut
« on: 04 March 2013, 01:43:05 pm »
Thanks for the advice guys.

Heat and a breaker bar did the job in the end - looked like it had been thread locked.

All back together and cleaned-up and a nice sunny work commute to today :) ...... makes a change after all the cold and wet of the last few months.
Looks like the ACF50 did a good job also, just hope I've not washed it off too soon.

FZ6 / Fazer / HELP! Seized front sprocket nut
« on: 02 March 2013, 08:58:20 pm »
Nice sunny day, bike out of garage for new chain and sprockets, but I can't budge the front sprocket nut. Will leave it overnight with some penetrating stuff on but any further advice / tips out there?

Need it for work Monday, if it won't move tomorrow will an old sprocket do much damage to the new chain (40 mile round trip)?

Oh, it's an FZ6 Fazer. Previous bike - FZS600 - nut generally came off on it's own! :eek

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted/swap: Front mudguard FZ6 2004
« on: 02 January 2013, 04:31:50 pm »
Hi all and Happy New Year.

Anyone got a front mudguard in the shed gathering dust. Ideally a dark colour. Mines cracked across the top and getting worse :( . Going to try and weld/glue it at the weekend but really would rather replace it.

If anyone is interested I have a standard end can, oil filter (new) and NGK plugs (new) for a FZS600 (1999) available for sale/swap (swap for FZ6 bits).

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Rack for FZ6 2004
« on: 19 December 2012, 12:35:53 pm »
Hi all,

After having my beautiful FZS600 written-off earlier in the year I have now replaced it with a FZ6 2004. I am fairly desperate to get a box on the back but need a rack. Has anyone got one for sale for sensible money (new ones are mega bucks, especially at this time of year).

Thanks, Andy

Well, sad day yesterday, confirmation it's a write-off :( . Why do we (or is it only me) get so attached to lumps of metal and plastic?

Another lesson learned also - try to insure things for their value to you and not just what you paid for them. Insurance had no hesitation in offering me the insured value of the bike. It must have been a bargain when i bought it because I don't think I'll get that much bike for that much money now!

Anybody know if it's possible to buy parts of the bike back from insurance?

Hi BennyBoy, thanks for the details of Bike lawyer. Injuries are very minor so I will see how I get on with Minster first and yes - profile pic is the bike concerned :'( . My daily commute through all seasons was still looking great so the tough search starts now for a replacement.

Hi all, thanks for you comments and advice. Early indications are that bike will be written off :'( .
So i will be looking for a good 99-01 600 with crash bungs! :lol

JZS, yes the Bandit is unfaired -typical- just as it turns colder. It's the first unfaired bike i've had since 125 days and it has reminded me why. The sooner I get a Fazer again the better.

Hi Scott,
Is your bike still available. Waiting to hear if mine is written-off, see 'Scary Halloween' in General, so may be looking for a replacement.

General / Scary Halloween moment
« on: 04 November 2012, 07:06:44 pm »
Halloween did start in a particularly scary way - crashed on the way to work!

Negotiating a roundabout on a dual carriageway in right hand lane to go straight on a car towing a horse box in the left hand lane decided to turn right - right across my exit! With the accompanying bang, crunch, grate of metal and plastic as I slid/rolled across the road narrowly avoiding going under the horse box (fortunately no horse inside). I only suffered minor bumps, bruises and scratches.

Anyway, this being my first dealings with insurance for many a year, it seems proceedures have changed somewhat. I took insurance this year through Bennetts and it seems they are just a shop front as I am now having to deal with 3 other companies; Minster Law, BLD & Equity Red Star (underwriters).

As a warning, if you report a claim to Bennets also report it to the underwriters yourself as Bennetts don't!
BLD picked-up my bike the next day and have provided me with a hire bike until it's all sorted and seem to be just dealing with the bike side of the claim.

Minster Law were soon on the phone to try and sort out any personal injury claim making sure I even kept receipts for a box of paracetamol.

It all seems so disjointed and complicated. Why do these things in life just get harder. I was always under the impression that new systems were put in place to make things simpler - how wrong I am.

Anyway, has anyone else had dealings with the above companies and how did you get on?

I am now without my lovely Fazer and have been given a Bandit 650 hire bike (ugh! I'm struggling to find confidence in the front end) I just want my Fazer back (if it's not written-off) a.s.a.p so I can just get on with life in quiet normality. :'(

Any advice gratefully received.

Used to live in Duxford so got most of the display from the back garden. Can also remember, as a kid, seeing Concorde fly over in formation with the Red Arrows - an awesome sight. Once Concorde had landed there it was never going to leave as, in building the M11, the runway would never be long enough.

Hi Manuel32, not been for some time but a friend attended a recent meet in Cheltenham with a very good turn out. Even after it had been pi**ing down most of the day! I will try to get to the next meet at Gupshill, Tewkesbury.
