Gibraltar voted 95% to remain. Leave seems to win. Greetings from Spain; we are ready to close the fence, LOL

In Spain the plates stay with the vehicle
Far better solution.
Just to add a bit more on my last post,
The plates stays with the vehicle, the tax (Suma) stays with the previous owner until it is due renewal. You have to transfer the vehicle registration and new owner details with Traffico using a Gestor/Notaire and they will charge you € 250.00.
That was well of topic

But just a bit about declaring SORN. You need to declare SORN when you take a car/bike off the road, we all should know that. But is everyone aware that if the bike changes hands and you inform the DVLA that you are the new keeper if you are not taxing the bike there and then you still have to declare a SORN.

When I bought my FZ1 earlier this year I bought it of a lad on the forum here. He lived in Scotland and it was already on SORN. As I live in Spain and I bought the bike at Christmas time I did not fancy riding it down here during the winter so he kindly kept it for me until April. It was only by chance I read that the SORN is not transferable to the new keeper. The penalties can be expensive as the DVLA can fine you for failing to notify them and either tax or SORN the bike again. I think it is £80.00 fine and then they can back tax the bike from the last time it was taxed?

There is no need to pay €250 to a gestor. It is common that the buyer goes by himself to a Tráfico office with the contract and paperwork -included the tax already paid by the previous owner- and then just pay a 50€ fee  ;)

Sorry about that mate, how  is that  insurance crap possible?

They decided to put all the insurance up by 45%.   They also cut the pays down some 10% - expecting to get worse. I got a baby recently and my expenses got higher even without those new measures to worry about. I'm still not 100% sure on selling. Put it on ads, but at slightly higher price than average (asking 2300, would settle for slightly less - mint condition with all the service done). They regularly go for around 2000, 1800.  If no one offers, I'll just ride it untill next summer, when it's up for new registration.

Is the insurance controlled by the state instead of private companies?

Congratulations for the baby anyway :)

Pity, British bikes always looked so retro with those ancient artifacts attached to them  :lol

Until an officer check your documents or you are involved in an accident.

It is considered falsification of official documents in Spain, you can even go to jail.

Much better no plate than that

eeeew. a blue and black thunderace, that must be REALLY slow :lol

I went to look at a thunderace before I got my fazer thou, far too "sports" riding position for me. quite liked its looks though, although I hear they can use a bit of oil?

Ironically it was one of my least favourite colours but when I saw the bike in front of me I changed my mind. The contrary happened with my favourite colour in pictures -black/light grey. It made bike look worse in person.

Ergonomically after a first week painfully building my wrists and small muscles that I didn't know they even existed I realized it has more legroom, do not make my buttocks to ache despite spending the whole day on it and keeps me better from cold air or mosquitoes. Add it has a much better sports performance and it is great. This and the Kawa zx9r are the only sportbikes for tall people. Add jacking up dogbones and you have endless ground clearance.

Yes like FZRs most of them use oil, mine too. But my fazer did too so I'm used to it. Some people say it can be solved with GTS 1000 piston rings. I just stretch oil changes and carry a little bottle of oil under the seat as I did with the Fazer.

Then why don't you fuck off to the inferior forum spunkbreath and stop making a tit of yourself on here. It's clear you are one deluded clueless fuckwit

I thought it was clear I was just joking, dude. I loved my old Fazer and I like this forum a lot. I would have kept the bike if I could. It is also clear that Thunderace forums are very boring with just a handful of members. So relax

isn't there a thunderace forum then? :lol

The forum died long ago as I recall thunderace is a nice bike I enjoyed mine but we'll dated by fazer standards
Was cutting edge in its day

There is a magnificent Thunderace forum with many hot girls, but I just wanted to go down here and mocking you and your puny bikes.

You have lost your way. What a pity.

Well, I had an FZR1000 in 1991, so that must have been light years ahead of it's time. The Thunderace was just a development from that, but actually, more of just a re-style.

Try again  ;)   :lol

Yes, actually it was old news  :lol

If you want to go technical:
People had already built homemade Aces before Yamaha did -this bike is basically a FZR1000 engine in a smaller YZF750R chassis. It had vastly improved suspension and brakes though, ironically its huge standard fork was better than the USDs of its "parents" . The engine was same as yours only with a lighter crankshaft, forged pistons, NIKASIL cilinders, TPS attached to the new the carburettors. It has the best aerodinamics and ergonomics I know though.

:lol  The mighty Motormouth has spoken.  :lol

A guy with such a cool nickname as myself needs a cool named bike like the Thunderace, you know.
I thought Fazers were old. You have a Thunderace?  :o    :lol

The Thunderace was way ahead of its time. Unlike your bikes, so it doesn't matter

 :lol

Haha you have improved the suspension and now you feel the bike could do with more power. You may end selling the fazer instead the thunderace.  :evil

Seriously speaking my fazer didn't need rejetting having a bmc filter and open exhaust, according to a couple of mechanics it was running great. Also I believe exhaust popping means rich mixture.

My ace doesn't pop so nicely :(

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Rear Shock Question
« on: 07 February 2014, 09:42:50 pm »
+1 for that.

I just changed my rear shock for an FG Gubellini unit. The original was in fine condition, but based on more experienced foccers, I knew it was only a matter of time before it NEEDED replacing.

It is a worthwhile upgrade. And apparently you can fit an R6 unit with a little modification. I would go down that road before rebuilding a unit that was never very good in the first place.

Glad you like it  :)

Why? and how is it compared with your current bikes?

They are cheap in UK too, aren't they? The one from this 2007 race 1500pounds!

Oddly enough, the R6 Exup is in the same place. Not as hideous though...

This type of butterfly exhaust valve is not an EXUP (Yamaha) or a SET (Suzuki) which are designed for mid range boost and are mounted in the downpipes or directly afterwards e.g. MK1 Fazer 1000.  These single butterfly valves are mounted in the exhaust link pipe just before the end can are a "noise valve" to help them get through ever tougher noise restrictions.  They help keep the weight and size of standard silences down often there's a premuffler box hidden under the bike or tucked up somewhere, they're controlled by an actuator hidden in the tail hump linked to throttle position i.e. the valve matches the throttle 1/4, 1/2 etc.  They work in a similar fashion to EXUP so are often referred to as such, EXUP valves in the original sense are no longer needed thanks mainly to fuel injection these days the MK11 FZ1 only has a single butterfly.

Good info  :book

I'm not convinced it is made on purpouse. Dealers often servicing it doesn't compensate the bad press it's going to take. I think it is just like Dani Pedrosa's traction control wire and software:

Ah, now I understand you-I am not a native speaker-.
But I'm not sure about Suzuki wanting it to seize so easily. It looks like a lot of bad press for them soon.

It isn't obsolete, it works, I think the 2013 model doesn't fit an EXUP. But they overexposed it so bad, moreover for this kind of bike.
