« on: 01 January 2020, 09:32:01 pm »
This is worth bearing in mind if you're planning holidays/events etc...
The early May bank holiday, which normally falls on the first Monday in May, has this year been moved from Monday 4th to Friday 8th to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

FZS600 Fazer / Sales Brochures
« on: 08 December 2019, 07:53:56 pm »
Anyone else got any of these?. They're the original Yamaha range and model specific showroom brochures for the 2003 FZS600.
The lower one is in German. Not sure why I've got that or where it came from!. Certainly wasn't Germany as I've never been there :lol .

Struggling to find an answer to this one.
If you buy a train ticket for say a month in advance from a ticket office at the train station, do you pay the same discounted price that you would if purchasing the same ticket online?.

Don't think this has been mentioned on this forum before...

Any vehicle that is 40 or more years old and which hasn't been substantially altered is now exempt from requiring an MOT test.

General / Gift Aid
« on: 20 July 2018, 09:43:15 pm »
Having visited various museums/attractions during a break in Cumbria this past week something has me puzzled.

Does anyone know why some venues charge a higher (approx. 10% more) admission fee in order that you are able to Gift Aid, whilst others only require that you pay the standard entry fee in order to do so?.

FZS600 Fazer / A.J.Sutton FZS600 Spare Parts
« on: 12 May 2018, 04:46:55 pm »
Has anyone purchased from them lately?.

Is ANY part still available?.

Everything I've just looked for, even the sundry stuff like screws, filters and pads is coming up as unavailable to order.

I wouldn't be surprised if all the tanks, inlet rubbers and exhausts had gone, but all the nuts & bolts too??.

FZS600 Fazer / Is This Brake Lever Bent From Normal Shape?.

As per the title, does this original part brake lever look like the normal pattern to you or is it bent out of shape?.

Many thanks YFF.

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / Beaulieu Motor Museum

Another Hampshire museum visited last week.

Lots of interesting exhibits in the main museum and 'World of Top Gear' next door.

The WSB Ducati 999 is the one Troy Bayliss won his second title on.

 Beaulieu, Hampshire, SO42 7ZN. Adult admission £24.75.

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / The Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum
« on: 01 April 2018, 08:27:28 pm »
This is well worth a look if you happen to be down near the Hampshire/Dorset border, not far from Christchurch.

You really do require an interest in the old bikes though as this is the main feature of the museum.

There's a lot of motorbikes in the collection and a good deal of related ephemera.

Bashley Cross Roads, New Milton, Hampshire, BH25 5SZ. Adult admission £9.

General / Ceiling Light Shade Removal Question
« on: 03 January 2018, 06:33:40 pm »
Any info here would be much appreciated.

Does anyone know how you remove the shade from the type of ceiling light in the photo please?.

There's no outer shade fixings at all and no evidence of their ever having been any (no screw holes etc..)

The shade will rotate endlessly both clockwise and anticlockwise without coming off.

Both base and shade are plastic.

Thanking you kindly :)

General / Emergency Vehicle/Red Light Question
« on: 20 December 2017, 10:25:12 am »
If you're sat at a red light and an emergency vehicle comes up behind you with lights flashing and siren sounding, is it against the law to cross the red light in order to allow the vehicle to proceed?.

Just observed such a situation.

The car driver was reluctant to cross the red light, but was intimidated to do so by all the surrounding drivers hooting at him.

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / The Haynes International Motor Museum
« on: 19 October 2017, 08:18:20 pm »
Sparkford, Yeovil, Somerset, BA22 7LH.

Adult admission £14:50.

Visited this whilst on a short break down west last week.

The car collection is superb. Stunning.

As you might expect, motorbikes are secondary to cars here and you really do require an interest in cars as well as bikes to make the trip worthwhile in my opinion.

The motorcycle section is divided into 2 halves. One side is a comprehensive collection of speedway bikes and the other is mostly British bikes covering pretty much the whole period of manufacture. Very few Japanese bikes. Think I only counted a couple.

Just a timely reminder for anyone that isn't aware, you have until midnight tonight (15/10/2017) to spend the old, round £1 coins in the shops etc...although I have heard that selected retailers will continue taking them for a short period after at their discretion.

After this they have to go to the bank for deposit/exchange.

Anyone else experienced this?. Or is it just something I've cocked-up? :lol

General / Ducati 899 Panigale Question
« on: 19 September 2017, 09:31:06 am »
Someone might know the answer to this.

I'm looking at a 2014 model of the above online with a pillion seat cowl and no pillion foot rests/hangers.

Would that have been a factory option when the bike was ordered new, or would the foot pegs/hangers have been removed at a later date?.

Ta. YFF.
