General / Sad days ahead
« on: 10 August 2016, 06:05:35 pm »
Due to a reasonable  lack of TLC and funds I find myself in a position where I'm going to have to let my trusty 02 foxeye go :(
It doesn't need a huge amount, but I need it every day and without a garage to work in I cannot do the work to properly prepare it for winter. I'm torn between selling it as a going concern/ project bike or maybe trying to break it as spares?........as stated I don't have a garage or shed, so breaking it will involve me filling the spare bedroom with most of the bike whilst the wife nags  me is it gone yet!!! :(

General / brake cleaner???
« on: 04 March 2016, 04:02:19 pm »
Hi all, this probably sounds a silly question.
I ride my fazer all year round and this year has taken its toll on the bike.
My calipers are functional but filthy beyond words!!!!
I have never used brake cleaner before, is it safe to use all over the calipers, disks and pads??? Are there any areas I should avoid? Assuming paint work? Is it safe for pots and seals??
Many thanks for any replies

FZS600 Fazer / Clutch cable just snapped!!
« on: 14 August 2015, 03:59:49 pm »
Just leaving  work, first junction clutch cable snaps at lever. Managed to ride bike back into work (not prepared to try the 15 miles to get home) if I can get a cable tomorrow how hard/how many tools are needed to replace the cable (isolated car park with no access to any nearby tool or consumable store)
Basically can I do it in an hour with a normal portable general tool kit on a Saturday in the passing rain?
Cheers

General / Lubing clutch cable?
« on: 22 May 2015, 02:00:38 am »
As per title really, clutch still seems functional but cable feels gritty and slow to return. What's the best way to lube the cable or is it better to replace it? Any input gratefully received. Cheers

General / Thinking of getting rospa certified
« on: 27 January 2015, 06:04:09 pm »
As title, been thinking about it for ages but my main drive now is to join a volunteer blood/NHS bike service.
My question really to any advanced riders is will a tired 2002 foxeye 600 60k miles and used everyday, be an adequate bike for training and test??  Keeping up with all those big bemers?

General / A quick visor question?
« on: 12 January 2015, 09:19:59 am »
I currently have a box BZ1 helmet and need to get a new visor. The visor is marked as FF-MHR-15 is this code the actual model of the visor?
The reason I'm asking is I have an Amazon gift voucher that I'm trying to use, but I cannot find a box visor on Amazon, however I have found other visors with the same code but for different helmet manufacturers. Would these other visors with the same code fit my box helmet?
Any info gratefully received
Cheers

My 2002 silver Fox eye was stolen last night from shepton mallet Somerset. Please keep an look out.  Ta
Edit. Sorry for the rash post, I have found it thank foc! Some scroutes had broke the steering lock n wheeled it away, dunno if they tried to put it in a van but it was dropped on its side across a pavement. Maybe just kids unable to pick it back up?

I mainly use the mobile site now and find it very good. On threads with multiple pages, would it be possible to add the GOTO page and page forward buttons at the top of each page, rather than having to scroll to the bottom?

FZS600 Fazer / 02 fazer fault codes?
« on: 04 May 2014, 06:53:19 pm »
Hi all, had a fantastic blast out today all the way from Somerset to Portsmouth and back again!
Any how I'm almost home and go to overtake and hit a false neutral, revs Max out before I engage 3rd properly and complete the overtake. Immediately after my rpm gauge starts switching between 0 rpm and 4k rpm then to my actual rpm. It repeats this every few seconds? Bike seems to be running OK tho?
Anyone got a clue what might have happened?
Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / clutch noise
« on: 24 January 2014, 03:40:27 pm »
Hi all, a quick question.
I have just started to notice that after my ride to work(17miles) that as I creep into the carpark, first gear riding the clutch, I can actually hear the clutch rubbing ( for want of a better word, not as harsh as grinding).
It doesn't do it cold and I don't appear to have any clutch slip or problems changing gear.
Is this the first signs of needing a new clutch? Its done about 38k and I believe its the original clutch.
I am due an oil change which I shall try n get done next weekend and see if the prob persists.
Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / speedo suddenly stopped working
« on: 01 November 2013, 03:44:38 pm »
Hi my 2002 600 speedo has suddenly stopped working and reads zero all the time.
I suspect its the lug at the front wheel cos at my last tyre change they said it had a few bits broken.
Anyone got any idea as to a part number or drawing that I can refer to to order the correct part?
I shall investigate the problem tomorrow to make sure it is the lug
Thanks in advance

FZS600 Fazer / Arashi Front disks
« on: 01 October 2013, 10:07:01 am »
has anyone had any real experience with Arashi disks?
I have a warped front disk from when i dropped it, and although its been ok for a few months of nice weather I am looking to replace them asap before the cold wet dark nights creep in.
I know you get waht you pay for but I cannot afford OEM's and these at £123 a pair inc p n p!!! from mad hornets seem great value?
a search for reviews seems to give that most people that have tried them think they are pretty dammed good?
any foccers got some first hand experience of these?

General / starting a bike thats been stood up for 2 years
« on: 02 August 2013, 08:48:32 am »
I have my old 125 that has been stood up for over 2 years now (the intention was to service it, clean it up and sell it 2 years ago... but riding my Fazer kept getting in the way)
I now have to get rid of it quick, its a single cylinder 4 stroke. I have drained and replaced the fuel and oil, cleaned air filter overhauled brakes cleaned spark plug and got some charge back into the battery.
Im now at the point to see if the bugger will start?? my question is should i do anything to try and prime the engine before trying to start it?
the fuel tap is a vacuum gravity fed type so im guessing the carb will be bone dry untill i turn it over a good few times. should i try putting a tiny amount of fuel and or oil into the top of the cylinder to try and aid turning the engine over and or getting it to fire?
any advice greatfully recieved.
cheers

FZS600 Fazer / cooling fan doesnt seem to kick in
« on: 12 July 2013, 03:22:00 pm »
With all this hot weather I would have expected my fan to kick in occasionally at lights or something?
The fan isn't seized and my coolant levels are fine, but after a good run and then stopping at lights for a few mins I can smell the heat of the engine( if that makes sense) but still the fan never kicks in, even when I get home then leave it ticking over for 5-10 mins.
I know the fazer fan is known to be rare to kick in but was wondering what other people ate experiencing before I dive in to test the fan and switch.
Cheers people.

FZS600 Fazer / carb balancing
« on: 01 March 2013, 03:30:08 pm »
Is carb balancing something that should be done at any particular intervals?
I have had the bike about 18 months and covered almost 12k and have never attempted it.
The bike is still standard although I did replace the downpipes with motads.
Bike is starting to feel a bit lumpy at low revs, could this be due to unbalanced carbs?
Bike has done 32k in total but I havent had valve clearance checked yet either, could this also be a cause?
Thanks for any responses

General / pinlock insert: how did i manage to ride without one!!!!!!
« on: 08 November 2012, 05:28:21 pm »
I know this won't be news to a lot of people. But have just fitted my first clear insert and it is bloody marvelous !!!!
Not only has it TOTALLY  stopped fogging but has also reduced glare and the starburst effect of oncoming lights
I don't usually recommend products but these are a must have for anyone riding this time of year.
£18 inc postage from racevisors if you have a pinlock ready visor. Even worth £40 for a replacement visor if you don't have pinlock  ready.

FZS600 Fazer / replacing downpipes
« on: 26 April 2012, 01:40:08 pm »
Hi all,
Ive got to try and replace my original downpipes at the weekend for some nice shiny motad ones, i have been spraying the header bolts with plus gas all week to hopefully ease the chances of stripping or snapping studs :(

anyway my question is; is it necessary or advisable to remove the radiator before trying to remove the downpipes??
or should it be simple enough just using extension bars?

any advice greatfully recieved.

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / pyramid hugger fitting to 02 FZS600
« on: 28 March 2012, 12:43:49 pm »
Hi all,
I have just ordered a rear hugger from Pyramid but I am having to have it delivered to my work place.
I'm wondering if anyone has fitted one of these and if its an easy job? i.e in a lunch break at work with minimal tools?
or is it likely to need the wheel removed and re-aligned and risk to much going wrong for a lunchtime tinker?

Also since ordering it i have seen a few people with thou's that were not happy with the fit, anyone had good or bad experiance with the pyramid fit on the '02 600's?

many thanks
