For Sale & Wanted / Breaking 2003 FZS1000
« on: 27 February 2019, 03:11:04 pm »
As my mate decided to mess me about with my old fazer, I have decided to break it as I couldn't bring myself to sell the old girl on.
She has USD front end, 16mm radial master cylinder, aero screen, 32k on the clocks, ivanised carbs, genuine yamaha bellypan, Quill titanium can
Exup valve in good condition.
It's on the faceache side of foc-u as I spend more time there than here.
Bodywork is all there but needs a respray.

Just fit the HID kit.
I've tried night breakers, 100w bulbs, but none compare to HID.  You get a bit of scatter, but the focused part of the beam more than makes up for it.
As for the matter of scatter, you're on a bike that is bouncing around, so imo scatter is not really an issue.
As an aside, only ever got flashed when I forgot to dip the lights.

Which way do you want the pegs to go, up or down?

I bid farewell to the forum.
The fazer has been given away to a mate and replaced by a XSR900.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

fast group at oulton, got held in the pits at the start of the day for ages whilst the other bikes were out there. anyway eventually got waved off and shot around on my first sighting lap................no bikes.......hmmmm.
second sighting lap still no bikes..........better up the pace a bit otherwise a gixxer 1000 will come howling past. i'm now going at 8-9/10ths...............still no bikes, come whipping around druids and finally see a bike...................i'll just sit in behind him and..................shit he's touring.
i stand the bike on it's nose, nearly go over the top so let off and .............................bang.
i wake up looking up several sets of nostrils. the chopper had already landed so gawd knows how long i'd been out.
ended up in Stoke hospital, and was walking...............very gingerly i might add, within an hour. because i'd been out for a while they kept me in overnight.
got back to oulton on tues aftie and had a very slow drive home.
bike has a knackered top fairing, split straight down the middle. clock brackets aren't the shape the Harris brothers intended. front loom has some road rash, radiator on the left is now double banana, the o/s crash bung snapped in half so the bellypan and footrest took the slide. tank has man lumps dent in the rear and an elbow dent in the front.
all the hospital staff were asking me what my lottery numbers were!

i've tried...........gawd knows i've really tried to be supportive of him.

through all his little foibles, stupid ideas and plans. even when he screwed over his own mother for £20k i've tried to be a steady hand on the tiller........a voice of reason.

but today he went too far.

i was told he was helping me pop up the plasterboard in the garage (he was a builder-y type person once so fine i thought). first sheet of 8x4 he picks up he snaps :\

'i'll use that for the fill pieces' i say soothing the situation.

2nd sheet goes up, i put my screws in and pass the drill over to him so he can pop a few in. foc-nuts puts so much force onto the screw it goes sideways and he shoves the drill through the sheet :eek

11 years of biting my tongue came out in about 30s of ranting...........i don't think he'll be coming home tonight!

I had a home made heated jacket (an insulated thread, woven through a liner, bought off ebay).
Dead simple, no thermostat and quite often had to undo my collar to let the heat out.

why do you want to heat your gloves up?

keep the core warm and it will keep your extremities warm too.

imo heated grips do a good job of warming your handlebars up.

i'm replacing the ceiling in my garage. the stuff i'm ripping out is about 6mm thick and about 30yo.
anyone know what it is and what i should be replacing it with?
roof is all timber with a good felt covering so no moisture issues.
want it done as cheaply as possible as the house is sold and have agreed to replace ceiling before moving out.

TIA

2nd hand is fine, but you need to know what map they were using.
pc5 is better than a 3.

« on: 21 October 2016, 11:34:58 am »
rear mount cracking is common and no issue.
exup bolts oth need a good soaking and inevitably you will snap one.............or more.

do not, on any account, buy a non exup pipe unless its from a well respected manufacturer with a racing pedigree to back up the bull (happy now Tmation)

Don't know where you got 172 bhp

wikipedia

i can see the clutch actuation is different on the motors but apart from that..........

been offered a cheap fz1 with only 3 big ends, and as EVERYBODY moans about the power output being a mere 135+hp i thought it might be a larf dropping a full fat motor in there.

has anyone swapped a 2004-6 R1 motor into a FZ1 yet?
a claimed 172hp is a good deal better than the MT10 :evil
