Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: R6 shock Mod fazer 1000
« on: 07 June 2018, 07:58:39 am »
Now had a few rides on mine (had to get it fitted by a motorcycle mechanic friend as after 13 years the old one was a little reluctant to let go  :D )

What can I say that hasn't already been said? The bike is so planted now, dips in the road no longer feel like they're going to knock your spine out of line and it goes where I point it and doesn't run wide anymore.

It's totally transformed the bike and I'm back in love with it again. I'm totally sure that this year the mileage will be significantly better than it has been for the last 2 or 3 years.

The log book will have the previous owners name and address on it, shouldn't be especially difficult to find a number or even do it the old skool way and write him a letter, include your phone number and ask him to get in touch. I wouldn't have a problem with a request like that if it was me. I actually did exactly this to find the previous owners phone number because I wanted to confirm that it had an Exup valve when he traded it in (It did, but didn't when I bought it).

I came on here today to see if you were still doing the R6 mods and it appears to be the case :-)

Can you still source shocks? and what's the price these days?

  • Do fox eye ones fit?
  • I saw someone selling a set saying they bought them for a thou but they don't fit.
  • yes
  • They must have been confused as the foxeye unit on the 600 & 1000(gen1) are identical.

I'm betting they were from an FZ6 not an FZS600

My son has an FZS600 Foxeye and I have a Gen 1 1000 and the part number is even the same on the headlights.

That is one nice looking bike!!
What exhaust is that??

Tommo

Cheers
its a blueflame 'EVO' .. possibly called something else now

If you want to know what a Blue Flame Evo twin port sounds like (in all it's baffle configurations) try this.

Volume warning for the very end of the clip. I had to add a bit with no can attached at all.  :D

Mine have been on for 5k and the rear looks like lasting another 1k. Considering I only got 4.5k out of a rear Dunlop Roadsmart I'd call that pretty good mileage.

Price seems reasonable as well, I was quoted £145 for a rear fitted on a loose wheel.

Maybe they do what I do and just shift weight onto the relevant cheek, works wonders and you don't look like a cock.  ;)

I think you'll regret it. Mine didn't have an Exup in when I got it and in my opinion the best thing I ever did was fit one. Depends where in the rev range you live though. If you rarely go below 7k you'll be fine.

If you need a new valve, check ebay.com (not co.uk). Mine wasn't buggered, it just wasn't there. I managed to get a complete Exup assembly from ebay.com (America) for £58 all in.

Done. Hope he's a biker too!

Cheers to everyone and to answer your question ChristoT, he's not only a biker but as of a month or so ago, he's also a Fazer Owner. He doesn't really have time for forums at the moment though which is why he's not on here yet.

He's got a nice Fazer 600 foxeye though.  :) :)

He's doing a Product Design/Engineering degree.

I'd really appreciate if people would fill in this survey. It's for my Son for his university Honours project and only takes a couple of minutes at most to fill in. The more people he can get to fill it in the better and it needs to be motorcyclists.

Cheers in advance to anyone who fills it in.  :)

You can't make your bike look newer than it is with a private plate so anything Y or before is ok, anything after is a no go.

I seem to be holding a reasonably consistent top 3 place. I surprised even myself with that top place in week 1 though.  :lol :lol

Got a Stebel Magnum on mine. It's been there 2 years and had cause to test it recently. It stopped the 4x4 that was pulling out on me. If it hadn't i'd have hit him in the side instead of just clipping the front. Still ended up with a broken headlight but it saved it from being a lot worse.

« on: 07 October 2012, 05:30:46 pm »
After a little altercation with a 4x4 that somebody waved out of a side junction on me I'm in need of a FZS1000 2005 (Gen 1) headlight unit.  Part Number 5LV-84310-10. I've repaired the old one for now with some flexible plastic and duck tape but don't know how long it will stay waterproof.  :lol

This is what mine looked like.

and post repair.

Got the new valve on wednesday and managed to find time to fit it. I now see what has been said on here about it being a different beastie with a working valve.

Oh yeah, stainless bolts and mucho copperslip was used.  :) :)

I'm in love with my Fazer again. Hopefully R6 shock mod and front sus mod later this year to improve it even further.

Consider trying some renthal bars. I know the standard Fazer 1000 bars put my wrists at a funny angle and the renthals are so much comfier.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Right, which fecker nicked my EXUP valve????
« on: 25 February 2012, 09:08:33 am »
How did it run with no valve in there?

It ran ok but was always a bit hesitant starting. It's been ivanised but was still hesitant.

Just managed to source an EXUP valve from Ebay (thanks to whoever it was somewhere on here who suggested checking American Ebay).

£42 and I get to find out what a Fazer should really be like.  :lol
