That is a real bummer all right....but not the end of the world. Don't panic into doing something until u have a chance to think about it, Get the bike home,,,cover it up and leave it alone...u might be surprised wot u can do yourself once ur mind gets around it,,,,! First step....download workshop manual (not user manual) ...costs about €4....

JANEY MAC...!!!! clearly i can use engine braking / rear / front brake to lose all my speed before i start to turn in, and POOTLE around on a nicely balanced throttle (BOLT UPRIGHT and reading MCN) and then accelerate GENTLY out of the curve...BUT..... i'm driving a HIGH PERFORMANCE motorcycle, not a VINTAGE TRACTOR, on a dry country road, so i will continue to approach at a BRISK pace, changing down and trail braking MODERATELY to steady the ship into the bend, and pull out HARD...!!!! ....

DAM....i got the +1 and -1 sprockets and a new chain...and joined them with the tool that they give u with the set... Only realised after that the chain goes thru the frame around the swing arm pivot...so had to drill open the joiner link..ruining it (JAYSUS they're hard) and now waiting for new joiner from ebay...

EEK....actually i don't want to go faster, just feel that 1st is too short, and getting into 6th too early... going around a right angled corner i want to be in 2nd...but its always a toss up between 2nd and third.... anyway ive ordered +1 front and -1 rear...will see how it goes

Hi Foccers I have to change my chain and sprockets....i want to raise the gearing slightly, ie. a longer first gear and higher top speed.. should i get non-standard front and rear (one tooth more front, and one less back), or is one tooth more or less on ONE sprocket enuf....?

That's a good explanation Grahammmmm...so Leaning is NOT optional. Anyway, calm down UNFAZED, it's not a competition to see who can get round fastest, or leave the most metal/leather on the road. What we seek here is a good approach, on the correct line, in the right gear at a brisk but not excessive pace, followed by a smooth arc around the turn leading into a full power exit on the right side of the road, thereby providing a wholesome feeling of harmony between rider, motorcycle and universe.

Hi...thanks again but I,m going to call it a day on this...I managed without the sidestand switch up till now...! I don't want to cut into the loom any further...it's difficult to get at. A bit frustrating having these little niggles not sorted BUT ANYWAY...my PASS switch isn't working...do u think I shud crack open the handlebar cluster...or just leave well alone....??

Er...not sure wot u mean...but if u look at my pics in posts 83 and 84 u will see that turning ignition on/off changes my six loose wires from 2 earths and one live to two lives and one earth, regardless of whether sidestand is up or down I appreciate all ur help on this issue....If u want to pack it in no probs....!!!

HA HA...!! Lots of advice....... but I,m not much the wiser...yes we all countersteer...I want to corner harder and faster..without sliding off or running wide.....I think we can all agree that heads up and looking where ur going is a good tip.... I'm sticking with TRAIL BRAKING....I find it helps steady the bike and shorten the wheelbase into a turn...I'm talking about normal to hard riding....not extreme race level....!!!

Hi UNFAZED,,, DUDE thanks for yer time and input....this is getting too complicated...the bike is running and ive never had the sidestand switch working... I do see some suspicious black wire going to what I assume is the cut off relay,,, i will post a pic later when i have a chance to see where that wire comes from....!!!
