General / Earphones

What earphones do you all squeeze under your helmet?
I'm having trouble finding a pair that are comfortable and stay in me lug.
I had a pair ages ago but my missis lent them to her cousin who decided to lose them. Iv bought I few since but there just not the same

Iv been looking at the little headphones what you can stick inside your lid but I'm yet to find some what seem upto the job and aren't affected by wind noise.. But I guess wind noise is always gonna be a problem no matter how much you spend ..

FZS600 Fazer / Loss of power then fine? ?

I was out on the bike over weekend and on two occasions with on 5 mins I felt a weird loss of power.
The 1st time I had gone through the gears at a normal rate and in 6th at around 80mph the bike began to feel like it was struggling. And started making a noise, the only way I can describe the noise would be like if you was pulling of in 1st gear and don't give it enough revs.
I tried to power through it, which made no difference so I pulled over. I revved the bike up a few times and decided to take it all way through the rev range but in a steady manner. .
It went fine up until 6th when at about 8k revs the bike seemed to have a complete loss of power. Shoving me forward, to be honest I shit myself thinking I was gonna go through the fairing! Lol
It was only quick tho, a split 2nd as if I had just dabbed the brake on .. which I hadn't! Lol
After that it ran fine so iv been racking my mind wondering what it could be. I had just filled it up and thought maybe a bit of shit clogging something up then clearing? I'm going to buy some carb clean to try rule that out? Anyone else got any suggestions please?

General / Real Road Racing mags

I'm going to subscribe to one but can't decide which and wondered if anyone here read them and what there views were.
Over time iv bought both Road Racing Ireland and Emerald Road Racing a few times each and personally think RRI is probably the best choice.
Anyone have any different views? Or is there any other road racing mag iv missed and could be worth a look?
I thought I'd best subscribe to one mag and just get it sent to me rather than walking to the shops and leaving with 20quids worth of mags. Lol

FZS600 Fazer / brake cables

Hey All ..
I'm the 3rd owner on my 03 Fazer .. in the 12 years it's only covered 5500 miles. In its time it's had regular oil changes and that but it's not had its brake cables or anything changed.
I read in the Haynes manual they should be changed every 4 years .. is this recommended time with regular use ? Is there an average mileage or any other recommendations? It brakes fine and there's no sign of splitting on the cables or anything but iv been wondering recently as something 12 years old will eventually begin to perish right ..
Iv been thinking of getting some new levers and Hel cables ... would it be recommended to do sooner rather than later ?

It was my bday over the weekend and parents got me a new rear hugger from Pyramid Plastics ..

The missis got me a new Richa Phantom textile jacket too..

Bought myself an alarm for the bike too, can't wait to get them all fitted

My phone keeps loading the page up in desktop mode and it takes an age to load anything?
I can't seem to find the mobile mode button .. can someone point me in the right direction please ?? :/

General / How old was you when your career started?

So ... I'm at work bored out my mind and wondering at almost 29 is this it and what went wrong ...
Got me thinking .. Most people I know tend to have been in the same job pretty much since they was 20 ...
Is there any late bloomers here? There's loads of likely stories of people starting there careers at 30-35 years and been just as successful as someone with 10 years experience over them ..
I'm probably experiencing a very early mid life crisis .. lol everyone on here always got lots to say so just curious what's your story?

Going to treat myself to a pair on pay day, looking on fleabay and the price varies anywhere from £30 - £80 ...
Besides the more expensive ones looking abit nicer is there really much difference?
They seem to bolt onto the frame the same way.
Wouldn't one at 30 quid be just as strong and good as the next at £60.
I could see the more expensive ones maybe been a tad more durable if they come into use. .. but it's not like your going to use them again after they have been used ..

General / 1 / 2 piece leathers

So Frostie got me wondering with his question a few days ago about leather jackets.
I own a textile jacket and have always worn that. I got given a leather jacket last week but couldn't imagine myself wearing it.
The real question here though is 1 and 2 piece leathers . Who here wears them? There obviously a requirement for track days. But do any here prefer to wear them to textile clothing on a daily basis.
I have seen some RST 1 piece leathers at a shop wear I live and I'm strongly tempted to buy them but not sure if they suit the ride position etc of the Fazer ...

what do you wear ?

Whose got plans to be attending any this year?
I fancy Cadwell Feb/March time but work conflicts to much for me. Blyton Park would have been good to as only up the road from me but only seem to be open to cars. May take a ride up sometime and get a few laps in before of get kicked off ..
When i was about 14 my dad took me up once in his old banged up van and we did a few laps ... Someone chased us and we pulled up , turned out we was going round the wrong way :/

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 mods ..

Hey, iv been a member since just before Xmas and iv done abit of trawling through the site to see what mods people have done to there bike wondered what mods people would or wouldn't advice and offer help and ideas on stuff.
I want to do a few things to my bike and have made a little list and wondered what you on here though

•Tinted double bubble.
•Remove standard mirrors and fit some handlebar mirrors. I wonderd what could cover up the hole from the existing mirrors if i took them off .. maybe covering them with decals.
•Smaller indicators
•Tail tidy ... although iv come to realise there isn't a tail tidy specific to the fzs600
•End cans .. iv heard good and bad about both delkevic and simmi both look good and are within my budget.
•Pod air filter ... considered but since looking into it unsure as to if it's worth it ??
...

Eventually I hope to remove the fairing and replace with MT01/03 headlight ... I Love the naked Look! But that will probably be saved for next winter.

Any advice much appreciated.

Introduction / Soon to buy newbie

Morning. Just thought I would say hello. I just recently passed my test and been looking at bikes for last month or so and can't find anything on my budget that tickles my fancy.
My dad got chatting to some bloke in pub who has an 02 Fazer, got just short on 6k miles. He's the 2nd owner and it's just been stood in his garage for last few years. He had no intention of selling but he would sell to me ...
Admittedly the Fazer never took my fancy, but the more I look into it the more I like about it.
But I wanted to pop up on here just to see what advise you could throw my way.
I have looked at a few posts and have a general idea of things to look out for but any further advice will be much appreciated
