kebab
yes some measurements please

i agree with you about spring rates, i can only think that Yamaha had to fit such a strong spring as they got there calculations wrong with the linkage so needed a heavy spring to compensate. also the remote reservoir has got to be easier than a piggy back one

thanks again everyone,
just a bit of info the max length the shock can be is 300mm.
with the bike on the centerstand i disconnected the bottom shock mount and let the back wheel rest on the ground the aluminium lump that the shock and the dog bones attach to  now moves slightly until it hits on the frame near the center stand. the bottom shock hole and the hole in the aluminium lump are now out of line by about 5mm.- in other words 300mm is about the max shock length without major surgery
god i hope that makes sense  one photo would have covered this so much easier

thanks for the info about the nitron, the only reason i was looking at the hagon site was to try and cross reference part numbers

kebab am i right in thinking you had a trx850, i think they weigh roughly the same i dont suppose you know any of the dimensions for that rear shock i know its a long shot but then again the trx850 rear caliper and bracket bolted straight on.

this has probably been done to death but i have treid searching but cannot find the answer i am looking for
so here goes.
i was out on the bike today and some of the roads were fairly bumpy anyway the back end of the bike seemed to wallow and was not very inspiring. the spring is set on the highest preload but one. the front end feels fine.
I am not the fastest or best rider and weight about 12 stone
so i am considering a rear shock change   I am looking for a budget solution
i have seen mention of a 1000 fazer rear shock fitting a 600 but how hard is it and does it alter the ride height
also i have heard of an r6 shock on a 1000 fazer - so will an R6 shock fit a 600 fazer
or should i just accept that i cant ride for toffee
thanks in advance
thanks in advance

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Dropped It! Help with repair advice please!
« on: 14 January 2012, 07:36:51 pm »
my fairing had a triangular shaped piece broken out of it when i got the bike - fortunately the piece came with the bike,
i used a dremel to "V" a groove where i needed to glue on the inside of the fairing.
i then used a 2 pack plastic bumper repair glue. i would say the repair is as strong as the existing fairing if not stronger. fortunately the fairing is black and so is the glue so it does not look to bad.

For Sale & Wanted / fazer fzs600 parts clear out
« on: 07 January 2012, 06:58:46 pm »
hi i am thinking about clearing out a few spares,
all parts are used and are going cheap i will put up photos if there is any interest
rear light with bulbs
bottom yolk with bearings lock nuts and top nut - chrome on top nut is good
side stand
side covers - both sides the ones near the carbs one has scrathes that are noticable
ecu
fan
front brake hoses -original including manifold block (it you know what i mean)
coolant header tank
throttle cables
footrest bracket - right hand side front
throttle twist grip
front master cylinder
fairing infill panel - left hand side - none on ebay at moment
collection from chelmsford essex or i will post as cheaply as possible
i also have a centre stand that needs welding and a side stand that need straightening - these are both available free + postage or i will get them straightened/welded by a mate at mates rates if reqd.
i am aware that none of this worth a lot of money but i am more interested in helping someone keep a bike on the road cheaply

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Rear Caliper.
« on: 26 November 2011, 10:13:51 pm »
just about of info
i did the trx rear brake caliper mod about a year ago and would recommend it. i have had no issues or problems with it what so ever.
the rear brake has plenty of feel  it has never siezed, in actual fact i have not had to done anything with it or cleaned it or anything. i have probably done 2500 miles with it.
i think the reason it does not sieze is because the bottom of the calliper is fitted with a plastic cover which is a loose enough fit for any water to drain out  where as the original fazer caliper only has 2 small drain holes and once these clog the brake pistons are then sitting in a bath of rain water and road salt

I have the Motad downpipes. Bought them directly from the company as they didn't have any on ebay when I needed them a couple of months ago. I paid £134.99+£12.86 for postage. Ask for that price and you will get it.
I'm very pleased with them. The quallity is fine, but the finish is not perfect. But that's ok considering the price and the motads have the link pipes between the downpipes. Some of the cheaper ones don't

Don't know about the delkevic pipe. I have a Viper end can that I really like the sound of.

/Mads

i have to agree about the motad headers i dont have a pipe worx end can they fitted together perfectly
