FZS600 Fazer / Re: Speed sensor oil seal

Yamaha dont list the seal as a separate part - its an oil seal 56 x 45 x 5.5 but the sealing lip is on the outside and it presses on to the  sensor.

FZS600 Fazer / Speed sensor oil seal
« on: 22 September 2017, 07:21:29 PM »
The oil seal on my speed sensor is damaged resulting in grease ending up on the brake disc - does anyone know where (if) I can get a replacement seal? I dont really want to have to fork out for a new sensor just to get a seal.

No, not damage from taking them out, they have rotted away around the edges. And yes - new pistons made by my own fair hand.

Nice bit of work on them pistons mate, I hope you put the main seal in the correct way around?

I got the new seals from Wemoto and the main seals are parallel not tapered, however when I put them in the groove (either way round) the inner edge was sticking up higher than the outer edge. The groove itself must be machined to hold the seal in the correct position.

Thank you. I would normally have just bought new ones but £200+ was just too much, I have already spent more on this bike than it cost me to buy and I had the bronze bar so it seemed the best solution.

The pistons in my front calipers were pitted (to say the least!), so I have made a set from nickel aluminium bronze, new seals fitted etc, and have got some new Hel brake lines to go on too - Looking forward to a better front brake.

The front calipers are off my bike at the moment. Just measured one of the bolts - M10 x 1.25

Use etch primer on aluminium as well - helps the paint stay on better.

Check the pitch of the thread though - some Japanese M10 are a finer pitch than standard M10 coarse.

Not holding the setting when the ignition was switched off. it was the red/green permanent live to the clocks that had parted company where it is spliced in.

There is a fuse for the live feed. If it hasn't blown then there is a section of the wiring loom on the LHS of the frame that is wrapped in a plastic sleeve with a self adhesive seam down the side which could be your problem.

This sleeve has several spliced joints in the cables inside it, and on my bike water had got inside the sleeve and the splice in the live feed to the clocks had corroded through. I cleaned the wires and soldered the joint back together.

I bought the M&P ones - exactly the same brand as the originals (Ars), same part numbers on them too.

At £70 a set for pattern parts, it's well worth trying the black or clear silicone.

I bought a set of these a few weeks ago from M&P and they are exactly the same brand (Ars) as the originals.

I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01B5RRYP0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to look inside my fuel tank for rust. The picture is good quality, and I have just checked - its fits down a Fazer spark plug hole....

FZS600 Fazer / Decals
« on: 18 April 2016, 04:48:45 PM »
I have just bought a 2000 Fazer which someone has painted with aerosol cans by the look of things. I am going to get it re sprayed but are the decals under the lacquer originally or on top  of it?

Also can anyone recommend a good supplier for decals? the only one I have looked at so far is
