keep hitting wrong damn button........

Just after a bit more advice on what's best to use or what's the best method for cleaning up the downpipes??
Don't think they have ever been done on this bike, just look really grubby, are there any magic formulas apart from a good load of elbow grease and a scouring pad etc???

Cheers both, only problem I foresee is actually getting the filter wrench behind the pipes to fit onto the filter? Other than that, as you say, simples!

Typical I bought that oil and now seen Hein Gericke are doing oil for £10!!!!!!!!

Hit the wrong button!!

I know this is probably the bane of many a life..........

I was going to change my oil and filter this weekend, the oil I have bought is:
http://www.maximausa.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=6

Can't see that it states it benig semi or fully synthetic, as from what I have read on here, Fazers run on semi?

Also, any ideas for getting the filter off? I have bought the wrench socket but can't see anyway of getting it on the filter without taking the downpipes off!! Which I am very reluctant to do.....I know the bike would have had an oil and filter change just over a year ago, as the guy I got it off had it done before selling it to me, so I can't guarantee that I'll be able to unscrew by hand (hence buying the tool....)

Any tips/suggestions?

Cool, cheers for all the advice, will just keep an eye on it I think and just go with the flow.....

Or maybe see what I can do on the way, i.e. a compression test and checking the plugs......it doesn't happen often, so not bothered really on checking the site level, just a little top up, it's only been twice since about november/december, and I do a lot of miles on it......may investigate further if becomes a problem, or like you say, up sticks and move on to another bike!!

There is a little smoke when it starts up in the mornings, I thought this was normal?

Cheers!!

FZS600 Fazer / Burning oil??
« on: 30 April 2012, 01:20:17 pm »
Hi,

Just a quick one to see if anybody would have any ideas - with my W reg Fazer, not sure if it may be burning some oil, have had to top it off a couple of times, as the oil light (not the temp light) had come on...for a few seconds normally when I had been pulling away (ok ragging it away) some times just when up a slight incline.........

Not sure if this may be valve clearances that need checking, as they haven't been done since I've had the bike and not sure when they were last done off the top of my head prior to that......and also needs a oil and filter change as has been a year since that was done, but would it be that? It doesn't burn much oil, as when I have topped it up have put in say...50ml maybe and that has kept it going without the light coming on for a while.....

just wondering if there is any advice out there??

Cheers!!!

FZS600 Fazer / Gear change??
« on: 04 March 2012, 01:25:08 pm »
Hi!
After bit of advice....whilst riding the other day (pardon me if this is really lame) but i was able to change up gears, without using the clutch??? Is this normal on fazers? I had a 06 ninja prior to my fazer, and was told this was ok to do on a ninja....didnt know if same rules applied...i.e. being a different gearbox etck? I know my clutch cable needs replacing as its at end of its adjustment....and after the bike has been running for half an hour, there is a slight rattle at the clutch (which stops when u pull the lever in).....just after some info/advice/comments/mockery  :D

Cheers!

FZS600 Fazer / Fazer Clocks Replacement
« on: 09 February 2012, 10:15:31 am »
Hi,
New to this forum, looking for a bit of advice - my speedo isn't working and it turns out after getting it tested at dealer that there is a problem at the clock end, so I have bought some used clocks (not shedding out on £500 for new ones!!!) and was wondering how easy it would be to replace?

I've not done too much work on a Fazer before, but assume, its norm just a case of flick the kill switch, disconnect the battery, take off/loosen front fairing, un plug clocks and take them off, as I notice there is 3 mount points....

Just after advice/hints as to how easy this would be, and if anybody has any reccomendations??

Cheers!!!
Jay :)

Have you got the link to where you bought them? As might get a pair myself as I find when cars are coming the other way at night I can see about as much as a bat!! Cheers! :)
