Services offered - motorbike works.
« on: 19 September 2016, 11:14:44 am »
Hi all,

Due to a change in my work circumstances, I'm about to find myself with some free time for the next 2 months.  :)

I'm thinking, to stop me getting bored and to make a bit of pocket money, I'll offer my services to work on motorbikes...
I'm in North West London and can travel, so bear me in mind if you have any jobs that need doing on your bike and I might be able to help you out.  :)

Out of curiosity where abouts are you actually located?

Here's a challenge for you, but you have to use the potted plant as well.  :lol

Easy!  :D I'll get my hammer.  :eek

Although would you expect me to fashion a set of wheels out of the plant pot?

Nice project by the way. Where in the world are you Darrsi?

How you looking to travel to jobs? Might have a chain & sprocket change requirement on a GSF650 '58 (Bandit) which is normally parked in Bedford Place just north of Bloomsbury Sq.

Obviously can't handle the speed of the red one then!
Could be worse, he could have a black bike!  :D

so your looking for motorcycle repair work in the london area and would like to help a fellow foccer out at the same time...

Exactly that, I'm really not desperate for money or work, but wouldn't mind a bit of pocket money in exchange for helping out a fellow foc-er.
In that respect, I'll be quite upfront and honest with people about the jobs I can and can't do.

I'm sure we've all been in a situation where we've wanted to work on our own bike, either to save the cost of a mechanic or because you just want to learn for yourself. but are perhaps a bit nervous about it or not sure if you have all the right tools, etc. Well I'm happy to talk you through a job, lend you tools, hold spanners for you or you can watch me work on your bike or leave me to it.

I have transport so can get out of London no problem.

Jobs I've done on my own bike:
  New clutch and adjusted
  Engine out twice
Topend re-build, valve clearances checked and changed
  Gearbox rebuild, complete engine rebuild,
  Cam chain change
  New discs,
  Replaced pads,
  Caliper service
  Brake bleeding
  New chain and sprockets,
  Carbs off, serviced and cleaned,
Changed exhaust header, link and can.
  Replaced exhaust studs
  Oil and filter change
  New head bearings
  New fork seals and oil
Changed handle bar controls and indicators.
  Recovered seat
  Change of plugs and caps
  New rectifier and regulator fitted
  New battery fitted

To be clear, I'm not a bike mechanic by trade and I don't have premises or insurance. I'm just a fairly experienced fazer enthusiast with a degree in mechanical engineering that doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

Note: I'm not great with electrics and would be reluctant to touch anything too corroded (ie exhaust studs)
