After reading this article i checked my '51 plate Fazer 8500miles and noticed it still had the old nut on.

I contacted my local dealer, CMC Clay Cross, Chesterfield.  The service department were very helpful, stated that they had replaced a few of these recently and confirmed that it had not been changed on my bike.  They then promtly ordered the parts and fitted them a week later all free of charge.

Can't fault CMC and their service, I am now riding with a much more relaxed state of mind after reading the horror stories if your nut comes off.

I've got a Shark S900, must be the helmet as well.  Lots of wind noise, I use ear plugs, over 50 can't hear engine at all but can still hear wind.

Will have to look at  helmet reviews and maybe swap it.

I use my Fazer mainly for commuting between Rotherham and Chesterfield, 60mile round trip mixture of dual carriageways and urban roads, occasionally use motorway.  I have done 4k miles this year and brim the tank on the centre stand every time,  the lowest that I have got is 59mpg and max 62mpg which i think is good cos am not dawdling along.

Curious about the 19inch neck comment.  Is it me or do these bikes suffer from a lot of buffeting?
On the motorway, anything more than gentle breeze and the airflow from the lorries, vans etc makes it feel like riding in a tumble drier!!!

Seriously thinking of getting rid cos of this as i need to either do motorway or fast dual carriageway to get to work.

I have had my '51 plate Fazer now since Oct. 2011 which had done 5.5k miles now 9.5k and recently noticed the posts re. the sprocket nut issue.
I contacted my local Yamaha dealer, CMC Clay Cross, Chesterfield and mentioned the inspection notice.  They knew immediately about the problem and checked if my bike had been done, it hadn't, they ordered the parts and fitted them free of charge.
Can't fault the service that I have received from CMC.
I would advise anybody to contact their dealer and mention the inspection notice to service before buying the parts.
