Cheers Mike, will do that. Btw, my bike has asked me to ask you a question. She said, "Ask him when he's over next cos I'm having problems breathing and drinking properly?"

Thought I'd add, I pushed my valve stem back into the valve and pumped it back up. The next morning it was still inflated with no loss of pressure but after riding it home on a flat tyre there was only one option for me ....new tyre and new sturdier valves.

Mine done the same last week, I put it down to using heavy tyre pressure monitors in the place of caps but on closer examination I noticed the valve body was a little perished. Kills your confidence a little doesn't it . I ended up fitting some solid angled valves. How old was your tyres ? Mine was manufactured in 2008 so I could put it down to age. You expect to get punctures as a rule you don't expect the valve to fail. Will post some pictures of mine.

Very different, you would have to reshape the whole bottom from tip of fairing overlap losing all the fixing holes on both sides to the other tip. If it was knocked about abit I would have had a go but imo it is just too nice to butcher.

Bought this with the intention of cutting it down to fit my gen 1 but after spending hours making cardboard templates just can't bring myself to make that first cut So if anyone wants it for £75+£5 postage, it's your's. It's lightly tinted with a yamaha logo at the bottom, complete with edge trim and pads that prevent it marking the top of the fairing. Never fitted so as new condition.

But you know what they say.....Talk is cheap Think you have inadvertently hit the nail on the head there, obviously want to charge you for talking to yamaha, IMO.

If you mean the caps e-bay no.290718731939 and they just screw on, if you mean the valve Watling tyres £5 a pop.

Confidence now restored with these solid angled valves fitted

Thinking about it, this could have been caused by over-tightening but when you hear air escaping as the pressure activates the monitor in the cap it's very hard not to give that last little nip. Saying this, when you know what can happen to them it's impossible to not think about it when riding. IMO you don't need to add anything to the list of things to worry about.

Certainly have no confidence in these and makes me wonder if they've been speed tested. My tyre went down very quickly as you can imagine so I'm just glad I wasn't going totally flat out, was going fast enough to make me feel lucky though. So beware foccer's.

My rear tyre was coming to the end of its life and kept going down. Whilst waiting for a flush week and the delivery of some angled valves I thought it would be a good idea to fit a couple of tyre pressure monitors. I did wonder if they would be ok because they were steel and alot heavier than plastic caps. Anyway went out for a blast and this was the result

Wow, I hope your friend mends well. I know exactly how you are feeling right now. Many years ago I saw my good friend killed right in front of me. It too put me off bikes for a while but it didn't last. So I have to agree with both of the above posts. A very noble mindset you have concerning your father and I salute you. Whatever your decision.

And they say women are better drivers than men Probably gonna upset a few people on here but in my experience they are more aggressive, more prone to road rage and hate to be overtaken by bikes to the point where I have often found them accelerating hard just as you are passing them. Men are guilty of this too so I don't want to generalise but generally....They are shit
