For Sale & Wanted / WANTED: Exhaust link pipe to suit 51mm pipe
« on: 24 February 2020, 10:58:07 am »
Hi all,

As per the title, I'm after a link pipe to suit a end can I've just got that has a 51mm pipe. Unfortunately the arrow end can I've got seems to have a wider link pipe!

If anyone's got any pics/vids of the unit on their own bikes now that more are rolling out, it would be great to see them.

Fair play DJDLTD, looks like a great unit and nice to see so many orders out there already!

There's a bank of carbs coming up for sale which have been modded to accept Ivan's kit but which don't have the needles or jets for them installed.  Reason is they're in another set of carbs I sold on a while ago. :)

All you'd need is to get hold of one of Ivan's kits and install the parts in place of the originals.  No need to do the drilling of the pilot bypass holes, which is what frightens a lot off doing this themselves. ;)

Would also make a good set of carbs for spares use in the future.

Mike, sounds perfect, thats exactly the part of the job I was weary of and at least I'll have a back up set. I'll call first dibs if I can please :D will PM!

Sorry to hear you're selling up, it's never an easy decision I'm sure!

Just wanted to say thanks for any help you've given me, although I'm a relative newcomer to Fazer ownership, I know in the past couple of years you've chimed in on some of my posts with some great info (even if I couldn't convince you to do 1 more Ivan mod for me!  :lol )

Look forward to seeing some of the bits for sale, don't suppose there's any Ivan'd up carbs in the list is there? I think I'm one of the only ones in the UK left with a stock one!

As someone in the same boat wanting to do this, if anything Mike's post has put me off haha

I am bound to fuck something up!!

I'll just keep telling myself it feels fine I think lol

Gave her a good wash and convering of ACF50. Then just need to book her in for an MOT and I can have my first proper ride since getting her a month ago!

If neither option works, I can tell how to check it yourself quite quickly. :)

Would be grateful for this info Mike! I haven't gone exploring enough around the bike yet, so who knows, maybe its already been done!

Mike,

I'm relatively new to the forum so unfortunately can't talk on experience of having met you, but it is more than clear from having seen so many posts on here, the Facebook page and even many other sites  that you are a one of the true Guru's of the Fazer and it makes a great impression as a newcomer to see someone so passionate about sorting the running of these bikes out for people (in fact I've had nothing but positive experiences with members since being here, (Thanks clive for the shock!) which says a lot about the forum). So a bit of a newcomers perspective for you  :)

I'd have loved to have had the opportunity to get the bike done by you but know all too well the toll things like this can have on you so can more than understand your decision (I'll not expect any further updates to my emails lol). The idea someone said of putting the process up on Youtube would be a great help though, so I do hope you give that some consideration, it would be much appreciated by a lot of people I think!

P.S If you need a standard bike to be ridden down to Spain for a Youtube tutorial, me and the Fazer would be more than willing  :rollin

Introduction / Re: Back again.
« on: 05 March 2018, 11:15:36 am »
Hi Jonny, the Fazer is the bike that i have had the longest, 5 years, sold it, bought it back after 4 years!

The SX was a great bike, mega engine pulls from nothing and is sports bike fast, heavy ish steering at slow speed, lots of vibes through the seat and foot pegs, not as comfy as the Fazer on long trips, better brakes than the Fazer (its more modern), handles well in the twisties,

Go try one, it may be for you (i should have kept the fazer warm in the garage whilst owning the SX) :)

Thanks for the insight took :)

Hi All, i was on here 5 years ago but left when I sold my Gen1 1000, well.................... i have bought the same bike back again as to good to
let someone else have him (he is called Freddy!), the bike has a a full monty ivan upgrade (done by mike), a niton rear shock, hagon front springs, braided hoses, yam sports screen, Arrow can, heated grips, new battery and chain and sprockets, hugger and belly pan, pazzo leavers, new PR 4 tyres, just been serviced, im not selling him again as regretted doing so 4 years ago to buy a green SX thingy :)

Welcome back  :)

Do you mean you had a Z1000SX? I'd be really interested to hear your comparisons between the two, speed/grunt, comfort, handling etc as I was thinking it might be my next bike after a few years with the Fazer!

Excellent stuff. Don't forget to use stainless allen bolts when you swap it over, and plenty of highmelt copper grease.

There’s enough copper grease to take a bath in  :rollin

New stainless bolts all round too!

Nice way to end the day along with the new R6 Shock  :D

Also if you come across one from a Thunder Ace of the same period.
Thanks robbo, another one I can keep my eye out on! Got some R1 pipes arriving today/tomorrow so fingers crossed the valve in them is ok. Seller made it sound alright!

So looks like my EXUP valve is completely seized solid in the housing so I'm looking to get hold of another one, preferably that actually comes apart! Thanks

Just wondering: have you tried freeing up your existing EXUP assembly? Heat it up and stick it in some penetrating fluid: WD40, paraffin + oil, diesel, etc. Might take a while but with a bit of persistence you may get it free.

Thanks stet, we are going to keep working on the existing valve, we have actually started to get movement from it  but I'm not sure if its going anywhere quick yet though. Cheers for the info!

1998 to 2000 R1 exup valve has the same part number as the Fazer 1000 so will fit.

Thanks for the info!

As a recent victim of a seized EXUP valve, today its the gall of Yamaha to charge £450 for a new replacement!!!  :eek

And so the price of used ones are extortionate as well. £100+ unless you get lucky. Madness. When they know its a weak point and that its never officially called for to be serviced. Bastards. Least they could do is get a few thousand more made up and then sell them off cheap.

some year R1 valves fit... there's a set of R1 headers on ebay for £62 (2001 /5jj model) someone or search here will tell you if it's the right one..

Thanks Clive, Pat has been giving me some info and think we may have found a set. Meant to turn up Tuesday to Wednesday so fingers crossed! Wish I left the thing well alone now but then it was rusted shut! Thought there was a bit of a flat spot lol

Sorry to revive an old topic but I was after replies specifically from those who have done the upgrades!

I've got the oppertunity to get these bulbs (the ones linked from Amazon with no fan) for under £30, is everyone still happy with them? Had any issues at all?
