Tips for a FZ1S 2006 GEN 2

(1/3) > >>

CatalinU:
I have a gen 1 Fazer, wich I have modded after most recomanedations. Now i found a cheap FZ1S, gen 2. What are firsts things to do? I was reading about ECU flashing at Ivan. Anything else on to do list?

Dudeofrude:
Lars airbox mod plus a free flow air filter, decat headers and add aftermarket can, Power commander with custom fueling map, drop down to a 16t front sprocket, remove AIS (if you don't like a popping exhaust and want easier access to plugs)

That's just a few of the bits I've done to mine 👍

I did all those mods on my 2008 and buggered around with lots of custom maps then decided stock with just a Fuel titanium can was the most pleasant to ride. Got sick of the increased induction noise from the airbox mod so stuck the cut plastic back in.

It's plenty fast enough as standard. The only other mod was a Nitron rear shock which I then sold when I sold the bike. Also put Renthal bars on.

AIS will beb locked definitely, where can I get all the info regarding the air filter mods? It will come with an aftermarket end can, don't know about the cat if it has or not

This is the best guide I could find on short notice

https://www.instructables.com/id/FZ8-airbox-mod-and-AIS-blocking/

It's for the FZ8 but it's all the same as FZ1 👍

As for decatting the headers, you just have to take the end can and link pipe off then shine a torch into the collector end of the downpipes, if you can see straight through then it's been done, if not you will see the white honeycomb stuff about 4 inches in.
To get it out I just used a drill, hammer and chisel.

Just remember though once you've done the airbox and cat you will need the fueling sorting as it will be running super lean if not
