which way do I remove the engine, is there a better way, from let say Left ?
Do I need to remove the oilfilter to help the removal?

Any other things I should think about ?

Any sudgestion, please let me know !

Big thanks in advance !

I’ll list some of the basics.

Make sure the oil is drained, and when you take the exhausts off make sure you get some wd40 or penetrating oil onto the bolts as they tend to seize, and then snap. Don’t have to take the oil filter off. And make sure every electrical connection is disconnected, I’ve done it before when I was stuck as to why an engine wasn’t coming out; turned out to be a small connector I’d forgotten.

How come you’re removing if if you don’t mind me asking?

Engine tends to come out easier from the left side of the bike  :thumbup

Thanks for quick answers !

The reason is that the 2nd gear wont accept any throttle before it slips out :'(
I got a good deal on a healthy engine and it sounded a lot easier to change engine than to strip the faulty one.

It might just be the gear forks that might need replacing, I didnt know that this was a standard Fzs problem before I found this forum..
I suspected that the gear was rounden and under load didnt hook up to each other (hope you understand my explanation....).

Anyway I bought this bike dirt cheap and therefor have a margin and was lazy and think its easier to just change the engine.
 :lol
The bike have not been used in almost 5 years so I got a chock when removing the carbs !
All 4 needle valves are stuck and for some reason Yamaha have put in 2 screws in each carb,  that is not rust proof....
Those screws will be replaced with stainless ones.

If you have more recommendation that I should do to get it of easy please let me know!

Second gear is well know as an Achilles heel on these bikes. I’m having issues with 2-3rd, however should just require a spring to be replaced. I wish you luck!

Hahaha :lol
True that !
The carbs was easy but the foc-ing engine is impossible for me to get out ! :'(

Northern Biker: When you wrote from left, do you mean if I sit on the bike the engine should removed out to the left side ?
I have tried and it hooks up against the left side of the  rear engine mounts since its longer on the left side, hope you understand my explaination...

Why couldnt the litle japan engineer have solve this the same way as my old cb750f, you just remove a part of the lower frame and Voila !
its so easy to get the engine out !!

Back wards engineering... ;)

Sorry, right side if you are sat on the bike, left side looking from the front. I should have made that clearer!
It's a tight squeeze and you have to jiggle it a bit  :lol

No Worries
I have rond 2 in the great battle man vs machine  :lol
Do I need to take away everything thats mounted on the uper frame tubes like cooling, coils etc. ?

Or should I just use brute force? :evil

Hi
I just had the engine out of my Fazer. Its not essential to remove coils/fuel pump from above the engine but it helps....just loosen the bracket, disconnect the HT leads and the fuel to carbs hose (at the fuel pump) and fold the whole lot back. The engine comes out on the starboard side...using a trolley jack under is a big help to take the weight and lift the engine a bit.
Difficult but will come out.

PPS....taking the carbs off is not that difficult...assuming the battery is out, its a good idea to hold the airbox back as far as possible with a cargo strap or similar...

A can of carb cleaner and compressed air should do the job or just the carb cleaner. Make sure you clean out the circuits in the carb body by spraying carb cleaner through them and check that it's coming out the other end of the circuit. A lot of people take out the brass jets and only clean them and forget to clean the corresponding circuit in the body of the carb so the jet is clear but there's still a blockage.
