It might be worth  coating the tyre and wheel with a strong solution of water and fairy liquid and wait for a few minutes this usually shows up air leaks.  slightly over inflating the tyre can help.

Sam Couplands didn't last very long after Jim sold it. In case you didnt know Jim is running his own
machining / engineering  business. R A Wilson is back in the premises where originally he started out.

Biggadike's has been closed for a long while. They had Yamaha and Suzuki agency's
I think they lost the Yamaha agency or let it go when Yamaha started making to many demands
on how many bikes they had to stock and sell. I don't know what happened to Suzuki but probably
the same. Clive tried selling accessories for a while then i went there one day and it was all shut down.
A few years later i opened our door for a Sainsbury's  delivery and there was Clive part time delivery
driver and i think selling a few bike bits on the internet.

Hi Volgen
I have had a similar problem on 3 bikes where the voltage at the battery
with the engine running was not as high as it ought to be.
One of which was a 1000 fazer.
The cure for my bikes was to add two extra wires one from the regulator
positive terminal straight to battery positive via a fuse and one from
regulator negative to battery negative. This gained just over a volt
putting the voltage  over 14 and on a bandit i have now runs at 14.9v
How ever  if the battery is not a good one and is not fully charged
you are unlikely to get good readings.

General / Re: Battery powered heated gloves
« on: 13 November 2017, 11:14:46 pm »
RST make some battery heated gloves.Three heat settings .
last about 4 hours on lowest and about 2 hours on max.
Two years ago they were £150. spare batteries are about
£25 a pair.I find them useful when deicing the car and other
outside winter activities as well as on the bike
The batteries do need to be kept charged when not in use
during the summer. I did not do this the first year and when
winter arrived one battery would not charge

It could still be your battery. When my fazer battery failed I also had the fault code for the overturn switch show up. Thoroughly checked out the electrics and diagnosed a faulty battery. Just to make life interesting the replacement battery failed after two days with exactly the same symptoms. Got it tested & changed under warranty and no more problems.

General / Re: Bike Lift
« on: 04 October 2014, 12:45:51 am »
I'm presuming with the Clarke bench I can walk the bike straight on and into the wheel clamp, and that's it, I can let go.  Then obviously secure the bike ready for working on.

Garage is about 6 by 4 metres, and if I'm clever about how I arrange things it won't take up that much space when not in use.

Anyone got a Clarke one?
Yes i have one i bought in 1992.Earlier version of the one shown in the link.It works well and i wouldnt like to be with out it now.I dont have the wheel clamp shown in the link .The platform on mine is a smooth finish  and i had to put a piece  wood on it to stop the bike slideing when on the centre stand. It also pays to check if you have enough roof height  before lifting the bike to maximum height each time you put a different machine on unless you have  a high roof. Screen heights vary.
It is a one man operation to get the bike on and off the lift but if using a paddock stand i find it safer to get some help unless it is a light bike.Always  make sure when takeing the bike off the lift that the side stand is up or else it hits the lift platform when when the wheel goes down the ramp and unless you are lucky or strong it goes over on its side or hits the wall.Dont ask how i know this.
On mine i find it pays to keep the machine reasonably central else when you lift the ramp or  it can start to tilt to one side. But it was worth every penny it cost me.We have 2 bikes in the garage and one of them is always on the lift to make the most of the availble space.
