General / Re: Whats the dummest thing a non biker has asked you?
« on: 22 April 2014, 09:05:05 pm »
standard question when someone discovers i ride a motorbike at work (its a bit corporate so mainly middle-class oxbridge second home in provence types)

"is it a Harley"

to which i reply "no", next question

"is it a chopper"

to which i reply "no" next question

"do you wear chaps"

to which i reply "no"

It might be easier and save time to explain from the outset that Easy Rider was a 1960`s film and poster from the US

to be fair the conversation in the opposite direction when i ask "do you have a boat" goes like this,

me "has it got a big feck off engine"

to which they reply "no"

me "are you rowing it"

to which they reply "no its a sailing dinghy laser class"

your thinking of Miami Vice or the University boat race

Hey Chris i hope that aint  "blue" discs! :o

Uber hot from heavy braking eh

Funny that when they are SLOWing you down they go blue :lol

Ooft i can't cope

More pics please :photo

the real trick riding on a track is not how fast you go its how late / hard you brake  :eek  the suspension is more important than the engine bike handles great, discs are from a place in Sheffield cant recall name they do a lot of race set-ups i use carbon lorraine pads and Hel hoses they work a treat

yep it handles on the track in the right hands it would be every bit as good as 90% of the sports bike you see only been a few times Oulton & Cadwell plus a few laps of the Ring

Thanks for the replies i absolutely love the bike its the best bike i have ever owned i have toured Europe, had great weekend scratch with the lads, track days, even days out following supermotos over the passes it will do it all.

i have had it a good few years bought it off a mate who is absolutely particular real perfectionist they did most of the miles i put most of the mods on, lost track of what they sell for you see stuff on auto trader & Ebay but never sure if it sells

having moved into an apartment last year the bike is stored at a mates garage which is now a pain i wanted to take it out this weekend but i am getting him up at 9am bank holiday then asking what time he`s home to bring it back, its just not practical unless i can find somewhere at the right price to store then its going to have to go.

North West/ Cumbria/ Lancashire.
A686 Hartside pass:- Awesome!! twisty technical supermoto-esque road. Be careful, the bends tighten!!
A5074 Lythe Valley:- Hilly, fast, with twisty sections.
A592 Kirkstone pass:- Slow, Twisty technical, very narrow heart-in-mouth bends!!
A5289 Honister Pass:- As above!
A6 Shap:- How fast do you dare go? A very quick road that the cops average over 100mph on it!
A588 Poulton to Lancaster:- Come and have a go if you think your quick enough!

Can't think of any more. This is enough though. 8)

these are all good i would add to make the 10 up
Settle to Hawes  :eek  mile for mile best road in UK
Newtown to Crossgates in mid wales its got everything
Snake Pass on a quite day just stunning
Dunlops Bridge over Trough of Bowland to Caton
