I went with the CN select last year and just renewed this year, for a two bike policy, £130 ish, fazer1000 & Dr 650, with an increase of about £10 from last year.

Hope so, not bad for a 20 year old bike.

Been a while, but I think the problem is fixed.

Thanks to unfazed who mention that the TPS can go off, well on checking mine it was completely wanked., the readings both for the static test were higher that should be, and the test when you twist the throttle we’re all over the space, jumping from anything from 3 to 18 k ohms.

So looked for a TPS on eBay but nothing apart from one in Germany £120 plus postage, unknown make, so I bit the bullet and got an OEM  one from Fowler’s £150 delivered.

All fitted and have had a couple of rides now, the tacho is behaving itself, but the biggest difference is that the bike, now at nearly 90,000 miles feels like a new bike, the throttle pickup is so smooth, guess the TPS has been on the way out for sometime.

Thanks for the advice,

Don. :)

Update, problem still exists, cut out the white connector and joined the wires soldering in new sections, but the tacho is still jumping around.

I have noticed that when the riding the engine sometimes feels a bit woolly, as if there is a lack of power or someone has touched the brakes, the bike does not slow down, there is no misfire pops bangs and it only lasts for a second or two then eventhing is back to normal. It feels if it is electrical rather than mechanical if you know what I mean.

any ideas?

Looked at the white connector a little bit of white oxide on the contacts so cleared with contact cleaner, and re connected. Short 40 miles and all appears to be ok,

Only time will tell.

Exup all ok.

Hi, looking for advice.

2001, FZS1000 Fazer, 89k on the clock and based the UK.

Been out riding for two days, first day ok, second day the tacho-Rev counter shows the revs, but suddenly drops to zero, engine all ok still running, then after a few seconds tacho Rev counter back to normal. This does not happen all the time, occurred about 10 times in a fifty mile ride. Nno other tacho Rev counter error codes, like the 3k , 7k etc. Speedo, lights, turn signals, neutral lights all working, clock keeping time, mileage working ok. Any ideas? Before I start pulling things apart,

thanks,

Don.

Depending on what you want/need from CN, they also do CN select, which is just insurance without the breakdown etc.., I got a two bike policy for £112.00 this year.

Robby,

It might be worth looking at the white connector under the left hand side panel by the tank, the link is from the us site

Had the cheap eBay ones for over 10 years now, no problems, but when changing the levers over, I found you need to reuse the original bushes..

Had mine for years, didn’t cut them down, no problems with cables or switches. Try before you cut them.

I’ve tried to post pictures in the past without much luck.

The rubber cover still stays on the mirror, the blocks lift the base of the mirror up about 1.5 inches, and the mirrors then sit on top of the blocks.

Hope this helps.

I have these,

https://sw-motech.com/en/bike/YAMAHA/FZS1000/2003/RN06/products/safety/mirror+extension/4052572013465.htm

Better than standard, not perfect but you do see more of the road behind.
