I'm stupidly thinking of chopping in the fz1 for a KTM. Either a superduke, or a 950sm.
I know they're bonkers, but has anyone on here owned/ridden one of them and compared it to the fz?

I'm looking at buying a bike to bike comms device and currently doing a bit of research on it. I'm considering either a Bluetooth type device, or a walkie talkie type radio. Do any of you guys use them? If so, what is it and what are the pros/cons. I'd also like it to be used as a rider/pillion too if possible but not a priority. Its so I can hear the missus complain about my last dodgy overtake

Just fitted a rear maxxis diamond to the fz1 and went for a bit of a scrub in. First impression is a very positive one! Due to the pointy shape of the profile, the bike tips in much better than before, the old tyre (contimotion) was worn evenly, and not square, still handled well, but had a more rounded profile. This diamond tips in quicker, which seems to suit the fz, and my riding style a lot better, then seems to 'plant' itself in the bend. Its a wierd feeling, bit I like it so far. Ill keep you all updated in its progress as I tip it over more.

Right hand riders peg hanger for an fz1, preferably in black. Mine broke due to a misdemeanor with a sheep. :-[

Went on an awesome ride over kirkby lonsdale, and on to Hawes over the Yorkshire moors.
Just passed the brew van and all the hill walkers littering the road, then started to open her up. Got to about 45 when a sheep darted into the road 15 meters in front of me. It went left, then right, and I thought I was going to hit it square on! Last second it went right, and I hit the rear end of this fully grown sheep with my right foot. I stayed on the bike luckily, but looked down to see my right foot bent abnormally downwards, then slowly straighten out. I pulled over to assess the damage.
One smashed peg hanger, bent gear lever, dented link pipe, and my boot split open along the outside seam! My foot is a bit bruised, bit not broken, and we managed to bodge the bike with cable ties to get me home.
I'm one lucky lad, it could have been a lot worse!

I'm a track day virgin, and looking to do one this summer. Just bought full zip together 2 piece leathers for the occasion.
Are there any do's and dont's, needs and requirements that you guys have experienced that's not in the track small print?

Had a bit of a blast over to devil's bridge and back over hambleton via lancaster. Just before hambleton I see this and make sure I'm doing the speed limit.

Anyone interested in a bimble out? Fizzy pies mentioned a route from St Annes, glasson dock, Lancaster, then Ambleside. It's a bloody good route that I do every now and again, you'll enjoy it, I guarantee it! So come on before the summers over :

I'm looking at upping the performance mods on my gen II, and most people use a power commander.
But has anyone out there with a gen II used either the Wiseco fuel controller, or the Two brothers juicebox? They seem a little cheaper than the pcv, but are they any good?

My 20 mile ride to work this afternoon took me down some of the popular bike routes. I must have passed 20+ bikes in the 1/2 hour it took me to get to Preston.
I gave my usual nod to every bike that passed me, only to be disgusted with no more than 6-8 returns of a nod. 10 years ago that would have been 20+ returns!
The friendliest biker was a HD883 rider that pulled up next to me at the lights, he was chatty, and a right laugh. This is a far cry from the serious riders that passed me.
It looks like the brotherhood is pretty much dead and buried:'(

Pinched my daughters horse riding camera and strapped it onto the FZ1 bars as an experiment. The 1GB memory card filled up after 27 minutes. Gonna have to get a bigger one! Has anyone fitted alternative bars/risers to their fz1? I've got bent bars and have to replace them. I'm not keen on the 3" risers that are on either. I know the Renthal superbike flat bars are almost a direct replacement, but what about other bends or manufacturers?

Just done 75 miles riding like a nun, and put just over a gallon in to full her up. Fuelly app showed me 72.9 mpg!!! It was the most boring 2 days commuting I've ever done!! :-[ Has anyone done any better? put your best mpg figures down and let's have a look. Sent from my AT300 using Tapatalk 2

Just bought a set of led indys for my pride and joy as the originals were huge.  Only problem is that for the fz1s you need spacers to stop the new Indy from rattling around in the fairing slot, this costs a fiver or more. :-[ The old indicators are rubber mounted with a plastic 'clip' to hold them in.  This clip is almost the same shape as the fairing slot. To centralize the new Indy in the fairing, this clip is spot on. All I did was file off a couple of mm from each end of the tabs, and fit it in the rear of the fairing mounting hole so the raised portion was located inside the slot.  Just fit the new indys in, et voilla! Indicator spacers for free! They'll even fit back in the old indicators should you wish to refit them!  Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

Just fitted the lower bar clamps to my fz1 with the original flat bars. It was just to get a bit more of a sporty stance as I thought the originals were a little too high. Its lowered the bars by about 2".  First ride impressions are pretty good. The bike seems to want to corner more sportsbike-like, but it could well be in my head. Clearance is a bit tight in places, but everything clears the bits they should clear.   I was going to widen the bars slightly too, just waiting for my bar ends to come back from the machinist. Somehow I don't think ill manage it with the clearance 'issues'. I'm going to test them over the next few weeks, and ill let you know if there are any problems Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

I'm looking into buying a power commander for my 2010 fz1. Seen a few on evilbay for the R1, and wondering will it fit my bike??
Been on the PC website, and it's not too helpful in this area.
Also seen a Two brothers juicebox, would this be an alternative?
I'm a nuts and bolts kind of guy, and this electronics thing is wizadry to me!!!

Selling a seweatherathers for a friend of mine giving up riding. I tried them on, but a bit snug for me.
Black 2 piece RK sport vented trousers and jacket. Only worn a handful of times, not yet broken in.
Zip together via short or full zip.
Full armour.
Jacket cold weather liner.
Velcro on knees for sliders.
Stretchy crotch area.
Label says medium, but I'd say jacket is UK 44", trousers 34" waist, regular leg.
There's a slight scuff on the shoulder about the size of a 50p piece which will blend in with polish .
Cost over £200 new, he's after £100. I can pass on his details if your interested.

This is my third Fazer 600, and I love 'em to bits for their normally neutral handling, and just all round usefulness. This one however has a rather unnerving habit. At between 35-45 mph if you loosen your grip on the bars, she starts a headshake which slowly (1-3seconds) gets worse until I grip the bars again for fear of a tankslapper. I've tried several times at different speeds, and with varying tyre pressures, and even with my large holdall (40kg) on the back. The result is the same every time. I don't know how long it's been there, as I don't let go of the bars very often  . Is there any guru's out there that have any idea what could be causing this? I've recently had the wheel off, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary, the brakes have been recently overhauled, and the bike has just clocked 21k. I'm thinking maybe suspension fault, but I'm having a wild stab in the dark. Someone please help!!!

The Speedo on my mk1 gave up the ghost on my last rideout, apparently a fairly common thing where the front wheel sender lugs wear out and no longer lock into the wheel recesses.
With me being a notorious tight arse, I thought I'd have a go at re-manufacturing it to see if I could get it working again.
I stripped down the front end and took out the sender to find this, a step worn into the sender lugs rendering them useless.

Just been on a bit of a ride through Lancashire on my box eye (bald tyre on the fz1). I must have passed 30-40 bikers on the roads, and out of that, and no more than 1/3 returned my nod! What happened to the 'brotherhood' of the biker?? A sad day indeed for 'the fold'
I did see about 3 other Fazers out though. A silver box eye two up at Glassson dock, a silver thou gen 1, and another black box eye at devil's bridge. A good days ride spoilt by ignorant riders, and my Speedo stopped working about 20 miles from home. Bugger!

Been looking for a luggage rack to carry my rather large kit bag to work. Couldn't find one big enough, so I knocked one up from bits of box section I had lying around. Renntec run in fear, stevies own rack has landed! Cost about a tenner too  Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
