General / Lidl O ring set
« on: 12 May 2022, 12:41:47 pm »
Just a heads up, Lidl has  420 piece set of O-rings (who needs that many). Says they are acid, petrol and oil resistant.  Presumably ok for Carbs then?

MT Models / Tempted by
« on: 15 November 2021, 06:07:31 pm »
Took the new Tracer 9 GT out for a 2hr test ride on Saturday.
Very tempted to buy

Then today I took the new MT09 out for a spin, only got 1/2hr but it gave me enough time to feel the lightness of the bike  and the speed wobbles past a certain speed.
Also very tempted to buy

General / Separating ethonol seems another panic
« on: 10 October 2021, 01:36:37 pm »
https://youtu.be/7VwxRVATbOQ

Just watched this clip as a matter of interest and the possibilty of reusing the ethonol to reduce financial  waste.

When it came to siphoning off and then adding fuel boosters I got to wondering if the people who are likely to go to all this effort  were previously accepting of E5 in their lawnmowers and the extra 5% has caused a panic or whether they previously always always bought super unleaded which I presume co trained no ethonol.

Either way  factoring the 10% loss of fuel in with the cost of fuel booster would it not be more economical to siphon or stick with the now super unleaded E5.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clutch renewal
« on: 28 February 2020, 02:20:12 pm »
When it's time to change a slipping  clutch do you change just the friction plates or must the steel plates be changed as well?

Cheers

General / Faulty indicator
« on: 02 December 2019, 08:52:48 pm »

Any of you come across this problem I'd be grateful for your opinion
Indicators
Left front not working neither is the left arrow display   Left rear is working.

Right front, rear and right indicator arrow work

Hazards on, the three working indicators and right arrow flashes.

If I remove either or both of the front left indicator connections the the left display arrow works
The indicator bulb isn't blown, I connected it direct to battery.

Getting a fluctuating Voltage through the left indicator wires with indicator disconnected

Continuity showing between frame and all eight wires in turn  with all indicators connected
fully disconnect left indicator, of the eight wires all but the front left brown shows continuity to the frame
fully disconnect right front indicator and both both right wires show continuity to the frame

Is the problem therefore with the single brown wire?  should all the wires be earthing to the frame?

Any ideas appreciated

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / EXUP....Can you feel the force
« on: 25 June 2019, 06:36:37 pm »
So  when the exup kicks in, I presume around 7k rpm   is it noticeable like a powerband  or should it just be a smooth affair.

How does it feel?  can you feel the force

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clutch plates
« on: 08 June 2019, 09:58:49 pm »
Need advice please

Have any of you ordered the individual clutch plates from Fowlers?  If so did you order all the are all the plates shown on the diagram  or have they bunched variations on the one diagram for all models and it is up to the buyer to decipher which they need?
I've also looked on the part manual under foc-u downloads but that doesn't fully help answer

cheers

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Rev counter fault or fault diagnostic?
« on: 12 May 2019, 09:25:53 pm »

Riding home  my rev counter started switching from 7k to 5k to 0 then back to 7k 5k 0.
It did eventually go back to normal  but was it highlighting a fault code  or just playing up?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Speedo not working
« on: 27 April 2019, 08:07:34 pm »

front end strip fairing, forks, yokes speedo off, connector blocks under left infill disconnected and tank off.

Put it back together and mot'd,  however, the speedo isn't working.  The rev counter is working.

There is just the one plug in to the clock cluster?  I can't see any other leads unaccounted for.

Any ideas what the problem could be, apart from me of course ;)
