FZS600 Fazer / Re: SFS Performance coolant hoses can be made to order

I've put my name in the hat for a couple of possible group hose purchases so no harm in going again.
So I'm in, for a set of red hoses for my fzs600 boxeye if I'm not to late.

I have to use full choke when engine is cold all year round, unless it's a really hot day, it always sputters in to life then once it smooths out and the revs rise (about 20 seconds) I can turn the choke off and runs sweet as after that.

How clean are your carbs? Just a thought.

Not sure about the carbs. I've only had the bike a month and never had them off. If I get the problem again I might start digging further, but whilst it's running ok I think I'll leave everything attached :)
Glad you're back up and running again, so annoying when your bike won't start for no apparent reason.

People who pull out into the outside lane of dual carrageways whilst doing 45 mph because they are going to turn right sometime in the next 20 miles!

Took the old girl out for a test ride after fitting thundercat forks, yokes and bars ready for a track day at brands hatch on 6th of March. just  basic setup but she feels so much better and is wishing me to tip her in to the corners only wish it is warmer and dryer. A bit of fine adjustment and she's ready for ragging around brands.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Faulty speedo
« on: 12 July 2016, 12:27:24 am »
I had very similar issues, but before it dropped to zero the needle starts jumping to crazy speeds, according to the Speedo I was going round a roundabout at 145mph but then it would drop to slower and slower indicated speeds untill nothing. It sometimes go's up when I slow down, I've checked all connections, wiring and sensor, can't find any problems. Seems to have stopped doing it now but have become very good at judging speed from the rev counter, if that plays up I'm buggered.

If anyone finds a solution I'd be right interested.

Mine developed a misfire turned out to be plug caps I fitted ngk caps and it runs like a dream now, they're only cheep, also carbs need regular balancing, runs lumpy at low revs when they're out of balance.

I stripped mine out, changed shock, greased linkage bearings and put back together in an hour and a half including making a cup of tea.

And good to see everyone again as always, with the welcome addition of newcomer, greenman - well done for getting out on a LOFO ride so soon after joining FOC-U  :thumbup

I had a really good time, thanks to all of you making me feel welcome, you never know, when your meeting a bunch of bikers for the first time, who your going to meet or what sort of ride your going to get. I didn't have to rag it to keep up (not all the time anyway), equally, glad it wasn't a slow trundle and good company to boot, I'll keep my eyes open for the next one.

Ah at last, dry feet. Got home at 730 after searching fareham and gosport for fuel, 20 miles before I found some, thought I was going to run out. Great day out, really good to meet you guys shame about the rain at the beginning but soon dryed out, Sammy millers was excellent. Will have to do it again sometime.

If you don't mind a new face gate crashing your ride out that is.

« on: 21 June 2015, 12:48:40 am »
I had same issues, tried everything but they wouldn't budge. Ended up taking the wheel to my local bike shop, Alf's motorcycles in Worthing, they ended up drilling 2 out and the rest came out with the wheel thread bonded to them, then replaycing the threads with steel threaded inserts. Cost me 60 quid a couple of years ago. Front ones came out ok.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fork Oil Replacement
« on: 15 June 2015, 04:04:43 pm »
YouTube has videos of fork dismantling and seal replacement worth having a look to see if it's a job you fancy taking on, loads of help on here if you get stuck. Loosen top yoke clamp bolts leaving bottom yoke bolts tight to slightly loosen fork tops, bottom yoke will hold forks this will make undoing them much easier with out damaging fork legs. Good luck.

If you plan on keeping the bike for a while then yes, it's worth the money.
The next lofo ride out should be 5th July, if we can both make it you're more than welcome to swap bikes for a bit during the day so you can see the difference for yourself!
A ride out sounds fun, I'm not working that day, would be good to meet some fellow focers, I'm in, will it be posted in events bit?

I've got a R6 shock on rear suspension duty, supplied and modified by kebab19, the best upgrade so far but is really shows up the shortcomings of the forks hence t.cat forks. I did think about USD R1 fork swap but loads of money and work, swapping of the stem and I want to keep it looking standard and I personally think the box eye doesn't wear USD forks well. It would be worth contacting kebab19 on here, he has a few mod ideas to get your fazer handling better.

If the handling improvement is worth the effort then I'll crack on with it.

Essentially - yes!
I too tried to get away with just swapping the forks but came to realise it's unfortunately not as cheap and simple as that- there will be several yoke assemblies to choose from on ebay, tbh you're looking at another £50, if you're keen on doing this I'd send several of the sellers questions asking what deal they'd do for the set of yokes and spindle, possibly the wheel (wheel isn't necessary now, you can use the fazer one and get a wheel later)
yeah the wheel can wait but more money to spend by the looks of it. Will the improvement to the handling be worth the money and work involved?
