Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Rear caliper Bolt sheared
« on: 12 February 2019, 05:20:05 pm »
My rear caliper bolt sheared off while I was putting it back on, (the lower one that is like a regular bolt) I'm going to attempt to drill it out, but is it made of hi tensile steel ? If it is I may take it to the mechanic. It just seemed to snap like a twig. And has anyone got the recommended torque setting (its going into alloy AFAIK)  :(

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Givi Rack, arm fitting
« on: 05 September 2018, 11:26:58 pm »
I picked up some secondhand Givi arms and I'm not sure if the fitting kit is complete. On the Givi fitting guide the bracket that goes up into the tail section looks like it attaches to a small aluminium block that rests into the ends of the frame. Its part 3 in the picture below. Its missing from the kit I bought.
Anyone fitted one of these kits ? Generation 2 (2007)

Hi
if it helps anyone make a decision, I bought Glenns old FZ1S about 3 months ago, and he was an honest, patient, helpful seller and the bike was immaculate and well looked after with everything promised and more.

Thanks (again) for this guide, Johns pictures are excellent, and the fusebox is the same as my FZ1S. If it helps anyone to get the terminals out of the bottom of the fusebox, I've posted a picture where you need to slide the screwdrivers. It is very fiddly, I found that if I pulled gently on the wire from below, I could dislodge the terminals one at a time. Also bear in mind, my diagram is looking at the wrong end of the fuse box, better to use the 10 amp connection at the other end as per Johns guide.

A normal tail tidy (ie the R & G one) just replaces the OEM one. Nothing gets hacked down.

Hi could someone please confirm this is the case, that a tail tidy means a shit spray up your back ? Also I see some people have problem with fitting a GIVI rack after fitting a tail tidy ?

Big thanks to GlennC from this forum who sold me his sweet FZ1S which I picked up today. Moving up from a FZS600, makes you realise, what a fantastic bike that was. But love the muscle and the smooth delivery. And I can ride it into the ULEZ. On the lookout for a tail tidy, wondered what people would recommend, and do I keep the original indicators ?

Fazer FZS600 Boxeye for sale, in good condition, powerful, economical, reliable, couldnt ask for more from a bike. Long MOT till Mar 2019. Genuine reason for sale.
Pretty much standard apart from the following mods
Twin headlight conversion (both headlights come on when on dipped)
14,600 miles, 5000 of those in the last year. Never missed a beat.
Rear hugger
Front fender extender
Clear indicator lenses
Yamaha Engine Bars
Oxford Heated grips, properly fitted to switched live on the fuse box. Switch on fairing infill.
Original toolkit present.
Givi "Simply" 45L Monolock Top Box with 340F Mount (stronger than monokey)
Has unfortunately been dropped, on both sides, so a few scuffs and scratches, deep scratches to the stator cover but available new for £20 on Ebay. Theres also a crack in the fairing below the off side indicator stem (see picture)
MOT advisory.. new tyres required before next MOT.
Chain has some exterior salt corrosion
The bike has been ridden through the winter so expect normal minor corrosion to hardware, front of engine block.
The dust seals on the shocks could do with replacing.
I will include the Haynes manual.
I'm in Twickenham, you can view weekends as I'm working away.
I can supply the registration for history check by request

I am hoping someone has some old exhaust headers lying around, I need to replace a missing header clamp, hoping to source two clamps if possible but one is great.
