« on: 26 August 2015, 04:42:58 pm »
now getting the bike onto a rear paddock stand takes some doing, first get stand behind bike set to right width, next put a block of wood under side stand so bike is almost vertical, then while still holding on to bike (important if outside and it's windy) get the stand under swingarm/onto bobbings, make sure they are seated on both sides and check again, lever down on stand and its done now you can let go of bike. Getting it of is reverse of this except you dont need the block of wood and you check side stand is down check side stand is fully forward and check for a third time side stand is down and fully forward then lift the paddock stand till the wheel touches the ground making sure it's going to lean over to the side stand then hold your breath till it's on the side stand, lol.
I'm kinda confused by the need for blocks of wood?
Park bike up on sidestand
Get behind it with yer paddock stand.
Hoik it vertical, slide stand under swingarm, and lever stand downwards to pop bike up.
Simples.
Is the wood to stop the bike rolling on? Always easier on level ground.

People who dress up like police with black leather, hivis and white helmets are muppets. The guy making the video is also a bit of a muppet. Has to be asked though if you don't like him why are you watching his video or care what he thinks?
He may well be a muppet, but vblogger baron is on to a nice little earner there making those vids.
Hi vis tragic man with his 'polite' jacket needs a swift boot to his nether regions imho.

Halfords...mid range stuff...pretty good quality.
Lifetime guarantee too.
I took mine back faulty after 8 years of use, they replaced it without quibble.
ISTR it scored pretty highly in the RIDE T/W tests also.

I have a Drift..the pre HD one.
I've had it a few years now.
I use ram mounts for convenience....but tbh, these days I can't be arsed setting it up.
I usually end up running out of card memory of the batteries run down.... :lol

General / Re: Where to buy tyres?
« on: 17 December 2012, 10:58:57 am »
I bought a pair of Sport Smarts  happy88 online a few weeks ago (£230 delivered) through Oponeo (who? I hear you cry) one of europes largest tyre retailers.
I've bought loads of tyres from them, and they nearly always have the best prices.

Anyway, their online ordering isn't too clever, you have to order the items singularly, so two separate orders, with two separate email confimations.

Courier rolls up, with just the front, confirms he hasn't got the rear on his van, and it's to follow.
So I sign for the front, and make myself a cuppa.

Half an hour later, sitting down I read through the delivery doct, and it turns out Oponeo have lumped my two orders together....and it appears I've actually signed for two tyres...but I'm in receipt of only one!.....merde!

I ring Oponeo (they are in Poland, but it's an 0800 number..so no problem) expecting a shedload of grief and distress, only to find that the young lady on the other end (really sexy slavic accent  lookup1) of the line is without doubt the most helpful person handling  complaints that I've spoken to for years.
She confirmed that I had actually signed for two, and technically of course, Oponeo were not legally obliged to do any more, but went on to say that she would replace the missing tyre of give a full refund.

Two days later, (today) true to their word, another rear tyre is delivered...job done.  happy88

In these days of shitty attitudes and service, I cannot recommend this company highly enough....if you are in the market for rubber....give them a shot...you won't be dissapointed.

It's so tough trying to make a crust these days.
Who can blame the poor criminals for their behavior?
What does it matter that ordinary folks lives get destroyed in the process?
Bless them, they can't help it.
They need all the help society can give.

I suggest we all contribute £50 per month to give them that well deserved 'leg up'
Criminals have rights and feelings too.

One of the best things you can do to avoid premature electrical issues is to open and spray the insides of all connectors with a thin film of  acf50.

You need to be pretty careful doing this sort of stuff. (what ever the reason)

Check out your plans with the ICO...could save a lot of grief if it all goes pete tong.

A few points

1. I assume the door to your side was marked up as obviously giving you the 'right of way'?

2. Just because the door was see-through does not mean her line of sight was clear...there could have been reflections on the glass as seen from her side.

3. If you had been carrying something other than your helmet, say something which caused the glass to shatter and injure her....could she not claim from you?

4. If you were wearing the helmet at the time, possibly your peripheral vision could have been reduced?

5. What's the company done wrong ffs?

6. Forget it, mark it up to experience, and keep your helmet out of harms way in the future.

I've been riding bikes since I was16.
I'm now nearly 60
There are not many bikes that I haven't ridden.
My first 'proper' bike had meggas, ultra loud.
My current bike has open Ackras
l'm not going to apologise for the noise my bikes may or may not make.
I'm perfectly ok with being branded 'anti-social', as since the 70's motorcycling as a whole has been considered ant social. Nothing has changed, with the exception that motorcycling is now being attacked from within.
Loud exhausts? I can't remember the last time I read about an accident being caused by a loud exhaust.
I know some will maybe say that it's MY mentality that is responsible for the incomming legislation.  Ultimately, even if we were just  riding 5hp silent electrocycles there would still be  those that would see us legisltated  off the road.

Dainese vs HG?
No contest. The Dainese is a far better finished product.
I've recently replaced my trusty Dainese gore tex jacket. 9 years old, still watertight, and no appreciable wear. It's been macine washed every year too.
Dainese is generally well made, stylish, and ALL jackets zip up to ALL pants. Can't go wrong really.
Finally, if you sign up at the D Store, you'll get 10% discount on all future purchases.
I always use the Manc store, and the service there is second to none.

Highly, highly recommended.

..those 'orbs' are specks of dust very close to the camera lens, the flash catches the image and highlights them. They dissappear when you switch the flash off...

There are no such things a ghosts......I don't believe such things exist......except of course when it's dark.....and I'm on my own.....
