Took shed loads of pics yesterday, but phone charger on the bike has packed up and powerpack juice running low, so will sort them when I get home, which is tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing them I'd be interested to see a map of your route for the tour too.

Love seeing people's tour photos. Especially where mountains are concerned. "Rocks rock" indeed! (thought I was the only weirdo like that  ). The stretch from Sisteron down to the coast is fantastic, part of the Route Napoleon methinks? Or maybe we were lost when we did it Nice one Mr. Robbo

Hi Stinka, fancy meeting you here! You can read in-depth about my trip and the planning for it on BCF - look in my sig. (chickenstrip) for the relevant link. It should answer a few of your questions, as I was asking similar in that thread before I actually went. I can't remember costs now, but my trip started with an overnight ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Santander. The Picos themselves are easily accessible in a day from Santander, although I stayed one night in Torrelavega off the ferry, as it arrives in port in the early evening. I stayed at Riano for 4 nights before the next section of my tour.

You're welcome As to not minding chips with everything, if you do stay at Presa and happen to be around the hotel at lunchtime, I can recommend their "Riano Vealburger" drool!

Hotel Presa is where I stayed:  it has underground parking. The food was ok, but found there wasn't a great deal of choice for accompaniments - chips with everything pretty much! Maybe I should have asked about alternatives, but I was a bit lazy! The hotel itself is very clean with good standard room facilities. The view from my room window:  I didn't bother to look around Riano for alternative eateries either, not that there's much to Riano. If this is a priority for you, I'd suggest staying in Potes instead. But Riano has the most magnificent view to greet you in the mornings:  and is wonderfully placed for exploring the region, so I don't regret my choice of staying there

I've picked up on Joe Rogan's podcast for some interesting discussions: scientists, philosophers, comedians, sportsmen (mostly martial arts with Joe), and not heavily pc like tv stuff. Then I go off and look at some of the podcasts and stuff by Joe's guests. Plenty to keep me thinking. Wouldn't mind finding a good history one though - must have a trawl through.

Tbf, it's not even those who think they're showing off, screaming it away from a cafe or meet or whatever. But it's where those places are. I'm surprised I don't see more of them getting creamed by other traffic, and I feel for people who live there too. And at those sorts of places, I've seen them get killed. The White Bear in Ongar was one: police stepped up their presence when it became a dangerous nuisance, and still someone wiped themselves out playing silly buggers when the police weren't around. And that was the end of that pub, and that was far from being a built up area. Saw another at High Beach one time, guy with a girl on the back (and she was dressed to kill, not apparently aware she was also dressed to easily be killed) and he wheeled it over the top, showing off in an inappropriate place. As steve suggests, there are times and places to have fun, between the villages and towns away from (at least) most others. I mean, we all do some silly things now and again I guess, and I certainly was no angel as a yoof, but I certainly give it a lot more thought these days. Besides, I can't afford the petrol for too many shenanigans these days

I have a scorpion can and front pipe in my FZ1, there is a difference with the baffle out and in. Out makes more power at the top end noticeably so but less torque at low revs again noticeably so, and visa versa. I keep my baffle in for day to day riding even with the baffles in they are very quick way to loose your licence only take the baffle out for playtime
I've always put louder aftermarket pipes on my bikes. I like the sound, usually as long as it isn't too loud. Never been done, or even warned for a loud exhaust in 30-something years, even when pulled for other things, and one or two have been quite loud.

Don't think so. Wouldn't achieve what you want of course though.

I have a carbon Scorpion, and without the baffle the noise level is ok, doesn't grate on the nerves, passes MOTs.
I've always wanted to shorten the link pipe though, purely as a cosmetic thing.

There's a series gonna be starting soon on Ch4, i think Thursday 20th, called Catch-22, produced by George Clooney.
Make a point of recording it, it is VERY good.
Not only is the whole thing very polished, it has humour, tragedy, some really dark moments, and when you see the regular bombing missions it's just downright scary. Plus the background music gives it an atmospheric boost as well.

I presume this is the Catch-22? I seem to remember a previous movie version was quite good. Couldn't get into the book though, highly rated though it is.

The Brexit Party don't need a manifesto. All we need is for them to get us out of the EU. Then we can look at who we want to take the country forward, and I only hope by then the rest have seen that some things need some serious tweaking. Not holding my breath though.

You mean Unfazed? Cannon fodder is disrespectful to soldiers, there's no other way to use the term. It's disrespectful from the point of view of those who would use soldiers as such, and it's disrespectful to the soldiers themselves who put themselves in harms way to do a job. It implies casually throwing away lives. I don't doubt Unfazed doesn't mean to be disrespectful - I just think the phrase shouldn't be used without careful thought of what one means.

Cannon fodder...I don't like that phrase, especially when applied to our troops in that war. They were fighting for a real, just cause. Even Montgomery, say what you will about him, was very conscious of the dwindling British manpower reserves throughout the ETO, and did all he could to keep British casualties to a minimum, such that the Germans complained about our massive use of material resources, especially when it came to artillery, and our American allies complained about his reluctance to commit.
The Russians otoh did often treat their soldiers as cannon fodder with frontal assaults on well defended positions, where pure numbers were used to overwhelm their enemy.

I remember the New Labour period well. I stopped my political levy during that period as a result of New Labour. I made it clear to my union brothers and sistersl, as well as friends and associates that I viewed Tony Blair and New Labour in the same manner I viewed The Tories, as enemies of our people and our country.

Otoh, I think Remainers don't really know what it is they are campaigning to be a part of. And it probably won't be there anymore by the time they win a Remain vote anyway, if they do. The EU we think we know (and the EU themselves have consistently told us we don't understand what they are about) is going to dissolve away. By which time, it might actually be something worth remaining a part of
