Had the same issue I ran additional + & - wires direct from battery to rectifier now have 14v at the battery at 5k

Sorted the low voltage at the battery at 5k I ran a extra + & - wire direct to the battery from the rectifier:-)
Used a 30amp fuse in line on the + wire

Both the service manual and Haynes manual state that 14v should be the minimum at the battery at 5K revs

I've replaced the battery and the problems are still there:-(

replaced the main earth cable tonite with a old one I had from a scrap Bmw loom, but still no joy
Think the main cable is just the engine earth. Rear lights still worked when earth  wasn't connected to engine.
I can only find one earth from the loom that goes thru a little connector that sits in a rubber grommet on top of the battery. When it's disconnected I get no light at all at the rear of the bike. Take it from that there's only one earth on the loom.
I tried running a wire from the ground on the rear light direct to the neg on the battery but light still dimmed with the Indy.

Starting to think it's time to take to a auto electrician

Yeah im gonna check the wiring again!
Is there a updated wiring diagram for bikes after 2003 as ther light switch was removed!
The diagrams ive found are for bikes with a light switch pre 03

Evening
Noticed over a while that my  04 fazer has been more and more difficult to start fired but was spinning over slower, anyway other week wouldnt fire turned out battery was low so I put it on charge. Was odd as ive been using the bike and it hasnt been standing around.
Measured the voltage across the battery at 5k revs and the reading was only 13.5v book says it should be 14 to 14.8
And at idle its less than 13v
Know I could keep the bike on a optimate but this is a pain, plus at this time of year ill be needing my heated grips and heated kit applying extra strain on electrics

being a ex aprillia owner thought it was the stator but the readings from the stator all check out resistance and ac voltage
Mate has a fazer so I borrowed his rectifier to see is that made and difference it didn't and was getting the same 13.5v across the battery at 5k
Had the white connectors in the charging circuit apart and cleaned
Starter relay out cleaned and the battery terminals/conectors cleaned too plus the earth next to the starter motor
Borrowed mates battery
Still no joy
I found a thread on here called "voltage drop mod" which recommended running another wire from the + output on the rectifier to the battery ive also tried this with no success

Ive also got a problem with the rear lights when either indicator is in use the rear light dims slightly, doesnt matter if the engine is running or not it still dims
Ive checked for corrosion and the connectors all look good. Ive measured the volts at the rear light and it drops by . 5v when the indicator flashes.

I ran a temporary wire direct from the battery to the rear light and this stopped the rear light dimming.

Dont think these issues are related but never know

I keep thinking its a earth issue but other the one off the battery dont think theres another to find!

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply gauge arrived last week whilei was away on holiday
I fitted today and its fantastic only took bout a 90mins the instructions in the 2 pdf are very straightforward and easy to understand
Soldering was straightforward too just cut and preped the wires then soldered the shortest to the longest

Cant wait to try out on the open road so many options and different screens to use

Thanks

Wear on the bushes doesn't seem too bad considering 47,000 miles

Deffo slack on the valve spindle, lots of "wobble" and it's just amplifies thru the can
Tried adjusting but was the same, there's a couple of machine shops local to me will have a pop in this week and see wots possible.

Cheers for the reply,
I have the spacer part 13
I'll get a better shot of the ends tonight when I get home.

That was my concern the material to make the bushes out, and my fear with using bearings

only need this bit that hangs in the exhaust "the cradle" bit

The ends of the above part are worn causing it to rattle
Have the cam, spacers mount etc

Thanks

This is bit I need

Cheers I'll look in to that, I thought about something like that earlier but was concerned about the material to use.

Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391035683580

evening
Mate has given me a brembo master cylinder to fit on my fazer
I've fitted these in the past to other bikes and normally mount the reservoir on the clip on mount
But I'm struggling with the fazer

Any chance of some photos of the reservoir mount?
Thanks

I fitted a Brembo master cylinder to mine too, these aren't to clear so I will try and get closer tomorrow

Did u get a chance to get some closer photos?

Thanks
