R1 front end for sale
« on: 17 March 2012, 12:56:50 pm »
Going to sell my front end R1 conversion if anyone fancies a ready to bolt on conversion. I've only just built the thing and very happy with it too, however a lovely little cr250 has landed in me lap and I want to put some cash towards doing it up. The forks are 4xv, with 4xv bottom clamp, fazer stem, spacer from Justy, top clamp is cnc company (couple of small marks but near mint), fender is new off fleabay. Forks are in good condition, seals are good, few small marks, rebound adjusters are a little chewed by some hamfisted twiddler but work fine. Not bothered if it stays with me really, but could save someone a bit of time if they are thinking about doing the conversion.

This is something I have always wanted to do with a fazer, so can I ask this... Will this front end have as much of a difference to the front end of the fazer as Devilsyam R6 shock does to the back..? And Can I get a fender extender for that R1 mudguard and is just the stock fzs wheel retained in this mod..? Where are you located and have you go some close ups of the aforementioned cosmetics etc..?

my set up uses 5PW yokes and re-sprung 5JJ internals, so much better than my modded standard forks, however because of the stiffness of the forks you have to re-tune your brain to filter out the amount of feedback you now get from the front end!
FYI it cost me £280 (and 5 months) to DIY.

Makes a huge difference to handling

You can get a fender extender for the R1 mudguard - the later FZ1 model's extender will fit

Stock wheel retained

only reason I have this up at 400 is the cnc top clamp cost a bit. I can supply it with the R1 top clamp which needs drilling for the bar risers for 325 posted, but it wont be bolt st8 on then. I'll get a couple more pics soon but here is the top clamp, I'll chuck the oberon preload adjusters in foc !! I havent done anything to these forks since I bought them, so will probably need a service etc, though like I said seals are fine etc.
I live in northumberland (see the foccer member map) pick up no problem, my estimate for posting is @£25.

Looks like a LsL top yoke these alone for the R1 make £100 s/h on evilbay.

Regarding fender extender early forks  ie 4xv - 5jj use the 1st generation mudguard and no fender extender was ever made - 5pw forks share the same mudguard as the gen 2 so you can get a fender extender for that mudguard.   Now my set up is the early forks and I was able to fit a fender extender perfect I'll put some pics up wen I get chance looks very neat.

.......stuff.........
not dissing your pricing, just saying that doing everything myself cost that much (handy having a lathe and TIG lying about).........so to just have a buy it and fit it for @£100 more and zero hassle.............. ;)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fazer-1000-R1-front-end-conversion-/221058177346?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3378181942

still going to have to swap the stems with that, looks like a set of std unmodded R1 yokes so still a bit of work needed.
