General / Helmets
« on: 26 October 2015, 09:21:55 pm »
So after my off last week with face plant, I need a new helmet.

My old one is an AGV S4 Trendy.
My local dealer used to stock AGV but don't know as they feel the quality has gone down hill over the last 4 years. They now stock Shoei and Shark.
Got to spend a lot with Shoei to get to what i like so looking at Shark.
Any one own a shark what do you think?

Cheers

General / Well, the monkey is off my back.
« on: 19 October 2015, 09:43:20 pm »
Had an off today on my YBR125.
Approaching a roundabout going straight on, oncoming traffic all in the straight ahead lane, no right turners.
The lead van is half way across the roundabout turns his indicator on and performs a 180. i grab the brakes not speeding  and go down on the left hand side and stop a meter from the painted circle. Look up and he's driving off in the distance. Prick.

Can't believe i braked so badly.

Whats really annoying was that it happened 500m further back on another mini roundabout but i stopped in time and upright. I thought to myself I'm getting a camera now. Well can't afford one now as i now need to replace my helmet because i smacked that on the ground as well.

Bike has minor damage yeah crash bars, and my left hand is swollen to ballon size, nothing broken thankfully.

FZS600 Fazer / Fork Oil Replacement
« on: 05 April 2015, 01:32:40 pm »
I thought this would be straight forward, so got out the haynes book of lies and looked it up. Index referred me to chapter which referred me to chapter 6 which referred me back to chapter one.
Finally discovered that you had to use the relevant bits out of the removal device and installation chapter which isn't straight forward.

So anyone got and easy step by step guide handy?

FZS600 Fazer / Brake Pad Replacement
« on: 14 February 2015, 04:07:30 pm »
Just passed MOT with an advisory for low front brake pads.

Now these are the originals so time for some decent ones.
What is the order of brake pads? 1. Sintered 2. Ceramic 3. Organic.

Organic are dusty and soft, I Know.
Ceramic are good power but not dusty?
Sintered are the ones that chew disc's but lots of stopping power?

Is my understanding correct?
Please advise and recommend with links.

Thanks Guys.

General / 2 Stroke Question?
« on: 22 August 2014, 06:20:13 pm »
I'm looking at a 125 commuter for work now winter is approaching, and have dismissed 2 stroke bikes due to the fact that they need a rebuild every 5000 miles or so.
Is this correct?
After a off road style rather than Aprilla 125, as they are bigger.

FZS600 Fazer / Sprocket question - not the usual!
« on: 29 January 2014, 10:57:39 pm »
I'm got my shock, linkage and swing arm out and in bits  and so therefore have the chain out to clean.
Whilst cleaning the front sprocket which is original with 21,000 miles on it in good condition i noticed that the orange anti vibration plastic on it is falling apart. Chain and rear sprocket is good as well.

Is this going to be a problem, should i change it whilst i can, or is a bit of plastic not going to course a problem if it fell off whilst spinning around?

General / Xbox online and GTA V
« on: 07 December 2013, 09:23:19 am »
I'm about half way through GTA V on my xbox 360 and have discovered that to reap some of the rewards i meed to be online.
Now i don't really like playing games online so have never bothered, but am now thinking of getting the wireless thingy so that i can play GTA to its full extent.
My question is this do i need xbox membership to just have it connected to the internet, i know there is gold and silver, but i don't want play others i just want get the benefit of the online part of the game in single player mode, also would i get the benefits of the xbox updates using a basic membership?

FZS600 Fazer / Brake Line Fitting
« on: 28 October 2013, 05:38:55 pm »
I have the two line front setup - master cylinder to each calliper.

My question is when fitting these lines, each end of the line has a slightly different angle on them, does it matter which end goes where, or is it a case of just getting a good route with no kinks etc?

cheers
