Anyway back on topic:
I went out on the Fazer today up to Whitehill near Bordon in Hampshire and collected a paraplegic guy and drove him to the hospital for a dental appointment, I hasten to add that I drove him in his disability van with a tail lift and not on the back of the Fazer. After returning him back home and making him a cuppa I shot of back to the beach to top up my tan.
The Fazer behaved well, and, with all the work I did on the suspension over last winter my chicken strips are now down 10mm on the rear, and I still feel confident I shall lose them completely.

Not really. I have always found they use a little if caned. Nothing like the old FZR EXUP's though. But maybe it was also something to do with the heat? Dunno.

Properly embarrassed myself this morning!
Playing with a Focus ST along the country lanes on the way in to work, all pretty friendly.
Got into town on a dual carriageway and stopped at some traffic lights. I was in the left hand lane behind an old duffer in a Rover and the ST was in the right, at the front of the queue. He moved over and beckoned me so I filtered in front of the old guy. Then the lights turned green and I dumped the clutch a bit too sharply. The front wheel came up, I shut off, slammed back down which banged it into second without the clutch so it totally bogged down, wobbled and slowly crawled away. I could actually hear the bloke laughing at me!
Broken, bruised, forgotten, sore,
too fucked up to care any more.

Yeah but come on Tom you don't need them on there anyways. At your age your testicles must touch the floor in a corner before the hero blobs do  :rollin :rollin :rollin

Well yesterday now.

Noticed a real flat spot on my thou while on a ride out last week, and there has been a rattle from the bike which I traced back to the exup. So, got back and attempted a 'service' on the exup (great link on Pats page). The lower cable had snapped  :(

So, ordered the replacement slinky from Wemoto. Arrived the next day, brilliant service. So, yesterday was spent attempting to change the cables. The more I looked at what had to be done, the more I got a bit worried. I have very few mechanical skills.

Anyway, searched everywhere for a 'guide' but just had to go for it  :eek  eeeekk!!!

Just over an hour later, the new cables were all linked up and time for a test ride. Smooth acceleration all the way through the rev range, no rattle. Bloody amazed, but I think I managed it!!!! Well chuffed with myself (and my lad whose slightly smaller hands were a god send linking up the cables to the servo)

I think I'll leave it for a few rides now, then get back into the exup and check that the cables etc are all ok. I'm assuming that if I hadn't linked them up correctly that I'd really feel it while on a ride?

The old joke was that you didn't swim in the Solent at Portsmouth, you just went through the motions... ;)
is that in the naturist part of the beach?

It's at that end.

Many (many!) years ago I had a job at the Geography Department of Portsmouth Polytechnic (as was) and they had an aerial photograph of Portsea Island.

From the Eastney side (by Fort Cumberland) you could see this long brown plume coming from the outfall and drifting west all the way past Southsea beach...
