Caught the dreaded Seized Rear Caliper bug today, I suppose after four years of riding through winter it was bound to happen. I'm now going to add a 1000 caliper to my shopping list next to rocking horse shit.

Went for ride out to Norbury Junction for lunch with a few mates. A late start this morning after the Club Christmas Meal (yes it is a bit late) and piss up last night. But, we were all up bright eyed and bushy tailed by 11am and ready for a ride in dry and relatively warm weather. Had a bit of a dice with some dude on a Penegale on the way home, difficult to pass but once I did I showed him a clean pair of heels and buggered off. Obviously he either couldn't or didn't want to push his very expensive superbike to keep up with an old man on a crappy old Fazer 1000.

Really nice looking bike there Panthor. Been well looked after and cherished.....................................apart from the centre stand you lazy shite. Shocking.......shocking I say, you'd best sort it and paint it to match the rest of the bike before some of our test pilots give you 100 miles of high speed shite to clean off  :lol

Tomski - you were supposed to be giving us some peace ffs!

I reckon it looks better without a rad guard. Reckon the rad guard would detract (look it up) from the nice seat and spoil the look.

For years I never had a rad guard cause I thought it looks better without and didnt like all the fancy ones with Fazer - lazer cut in, took me ages to find one that I liked that was not bulky looking and my intention was to paint it black but in the end I couldnt be arsed, I dont fit a guard for any modding or bling, it actually is a guard to protect the rad. Here it is

I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

With storm Doris set to come in on us tomorrow thought I'd have a run out with my brother on his ZX9R Frankenbike  :D
Typically as he came round it started to fine rain. Decided to go out anyway, put the Mt away and took the Fazer as it's easier to clean.
Headed out to Charing with the weather getting steadily  worse and the roads horrible. Pulled over and debated whether or not to turn back.
Looking west there was a bright patch in the sky so decided to head towards it.
So glad we did as by the time we hit the other side of Headcorn it was bright and the roads were bone dry and grippy.
Absolutely ragged it down to Rye via the twisties and canal road for a mega breakfast.
The old girl was scuttling along nicely and it felt good to hit some grippy roads. Feels like it's been a long time.

Took the old girl out for a blast for a bit wore down the chicken strips a bit more playing with sussies settings and seeing if setting the TPS helped with crappy low speed running , which it did a bit , then stopped in Epping for a coffee trying to grab a plod unsuccessfully for the picture challenge.

Not today, but yesterday. First time out on the Fazer since last autumn. Took it up to the Hartside cafe (closed  :rolleyes ). Empty roads in reasonably good nick following the winter, but bloody cold up on the top.

Rode down to Getgeared, bought some new boots and threw my totally focced 7 year Sidi boots in their bin, then went for a bacon buttie at Squires, then took all the back roads to Stamford Bridge and got the bike blathered in crap.

Started the 1000 caliper mod to my 600. Got the caliper and bracket swapped over, went to change the disc, and it looks like fate's telling me to take it to a garage.

Attempted to get the disc off mine a couple of days ago.
I reckon my Allen key was better quality than yours... it was the heads that rounded off.  :rollin

I haven't got back to it yet.. the plan is to weld some nuts on to the top of each screw.
Not only does it give you something meaty for a socket and impact gun to get hold of, the heat should weaken the superglue/threadlock.

Drill it them out with a 4 or 5mm left hand drill bit with the drill in running anticlockwise. If they don't spin out the heat from the drill will soften the loctite enough to get them out with an allen key or a tork driven into them
