I've always used the premium stuff but the last garage I stopped at wasn't that fancy so I had to settle for standard 97.
I thought that standard was 95
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Yup Fazersharp, standard is called premium.
Premium unleaded is 95RON.
Super is usually 98RON, sometimes 97RON.
Dunno about other models but my gen1 thou is set up for 92 RON.  So going for 98RON if anything, on the gen1 thou,  will result in a slight reduction in performance and possibly a slight increase in consumption.

Not sure why anyone would buy an FZ1 gen2 if they worried about mpg and tank range. It's a tool for hooligans to enjoy when they can no longer fit a sports bike cramped riding position, for what ever reason.

Premium at my local garage is 99 apparently? That's what it says on the pump anyway

I'm not fussed about not at all. I actually actively reduced it with the current fuel map haha I was just impressed it had managed over 100 miles to a tank for the first time in my ownership, especially as many seem to be able to get 130-150 out of their gen 2s

Had a run up to CMC at Clay Cross, refreshment, then a look at what I cant afford. Ride over the Dales through Tansley and into Matlock. More drinks, then off home, just got a bit too warm for me though. Plenty out riding in shorts and tees.

Two days ago. Found myself heading up to the Kirkstone Pass:

Had a clamber up to the top of the hill behind the inn:

Biking and fell walking in one trip; what more could you ask?  :D

As I was fitting an Ivan's Full Monty kit to my bike I thought I would take the opportunity to remove the AIS on my Fazer 1000 as I'd bought both an Ivan's blanking kit and a set of caps from another member on here last year. I decided to go with the caps not just because I thought they would look neater but I felt I could get away with doing the job without the need to drain the coolant, remove the rad and mess around tapping holes.
Well the plan worked and I was able to strip everything out through the top of the frame and get the caps on, although as most people who had these I had to open them out a little to get them to fit, without all the aforementioned hassle,  The engine area looks a lot tidier and it should now be much easier to change the spark plugs so the job is a good'un.  :lol

A nice ride in the sunshine to Bangor pier, via St Asaph, Penmaenmawr. Return via Betws y Coed. Coffee and food at one of the kiosks on the pier. 140 miles in all.

An enjoyable whizz home from Cornwall on A roads, after attending a bike rally. Bike was fine after my recent coolant issues, however the rider got a bit hot and bothered at times when any traffic was encountered :lol .

A ride to the Cayley cafe on the prom at Rhos on Sea. Nice and cool, 18 degrees, some rain. Enjoying it after the oppressive heat that we've had.

MOT test underway as I type.

Hope it passes OK. In tip-top nick so I'm hopeful ;)

Well I thought it was underway.......got back and they hadn't even started on it and had no intention of doing so.

Said they were too busy, even though bike booked in a week ago.

I hope they go bankrupt.

I'll go to the Ducati garage a couple of miles up the road next time. Got nearly a month left. Bet you get better service there ;)

Sorry folks but this post goes back to last Friday 3rd August (sorry for the delay but travelling with work).

I went to my first bike evening at SteelHorse Cafe near Abergavenny.
They hold them every first Friday of the month at 18:00 to 21:00 (I think those times are correct).

Loads of bike showed up, filling the car park to the brim, including several other Fazers.

I spoke to the owner of a blue FZS 600 Foxeye but didn't get to speak to any of the owners of the others, so, perhaps, they were fellow Foccers.

There was also a hand-built Rat-scooter-thingy which was very popular and made the owner of a nice shiny Kawasaki H2 very peeved because of the attention!!

Definitely worth a look and I will be going to the September 7th one for sure.

Would be good to meet other Foccers  :D
Take a deep breath, coz it all starts now, when you pull the foccin' pin

I went to Moto-R in Ruthin to book an MOT for the 600. Carried on to Rhos on Sea promenade for coffee and teacake. Just washed it and checked it over. MOT tomorrow morning at 10am.

Just been to Ruthin in the rain for the MOT. Bike passed, just needed a new switch as the brake light was coming on intermittently.

FZS 600 Back on the road, new fork seals and new headrace taper roller bearings fitted. For info. the headrace bearings on the 98-03 FZS600 are exactly the same as the 01-05 FZS1000.  :) I replaced FZS1000 ones a few weeks ago as they were becoming a bit notchy (bought the taper roller bearings from Marksman) and when I needed to do the fork seals on the 600 I decided to check the condition of the headrace, they were not too bad but decided to change them as the front end was apart.
I noticed they looked the same size as the 1000 bearings I had not dumped yet.
Did a bit of checking they had the same part numbers.
I ordered another set for 1000 from Marksman they are listed on the site as FZ1 01-05 (he does not list a set for the FZS600) and they are a perfect fit. :woot

Rode into the MOT place at 7:30 this morning just as the shutters were being rolled up. A leisurely stroll round to the caff for some breakfast and a scan of the paper, then back to collect my pass certificate. Just got to take off the plasterers hawk sized number plate and pull out the db killer, and I'm all set for another years Fazerin.  :lol :thumbup

Took off the exhaust header bolts and put copperslip on the threads, torqued them up to 75% of the recommended value and will check them again in a couple of weeks.

Also finally managed to get the connector from the loom to the instruments apart with a liberal amount of WD40 contact cleaner. One contact was seriously clagged, another was a bit iffy. Cleaned them all, but when I went out for a ride after, the LCD display still flickered :(

I played the Gooner this morning, I had a busy afternoon so decided on a short local poodle around on the FZS 600 this morning, grey overcast sky very windy so i thought to myself pop up to see a mate in a village about 6 miles away, all well and good. :thumbup

I then decided to pop down and see Billy, another mate 11 miles the other way, as I was only going a short distance and certainly in no hurry so I shoved on my paddock jack and a pair of leather lace up shoes along with my bucket and gloves, I pulled up outside Billy's pad went to put my left foot down (Slightly leaning bike in that direction) and the gear lever had gone through the loop in the bow of my lace and my foot would not go passed the foot rest, I had to snatch my foot down really hard as the bike was going over, lucky enough the lace snapped and I struggled to hold the bike up, close call. Lesson learned, no lace up foot ware for me when riding the bikes from now on.
