I've finally taken the plunge, and allowed myself to be dragged a bit further into the modern age  :eek  Bought a Garmin sat nav and bluetooth headset; loomed in the nav wiring today and fitted the headset to the helmet. Just got to pair everything up then go have a play to make sure I know what I'm doing with it. I only really want it to help find booked hotels and sort myself out if (when  :rolleyes ) I get lost, and the 'find fuel' thing might be handy; I'll still be using maps for actual exploring of certain areas I think. Bike has been serviced and had new tyres fitted. Just got to sort insurance, breakdown cover and get an MOT for it, and I'm all set for Spain at the end of next month  :D

Took the swingarm and suspension off to replace the chain (endless), lube the linkages and replace the shock.
Also checked front sprocket alignment with the rear as I was a bit concerned about the wear rate on the inside edge of the sprocket… turned out to be spot on, so I guess the chain itself was the issue. Maybe not surprising since it’s done 54,000 miles.
Sadly, ran out of daylight thanks to the time it took to get things clean so will have to complete the job tomorrow.

54,000 miles from a chain? Bloody hell you must have looked after that. What replacement shock are you fitting?

The Scottoiler and lots of average speed cameras on my commute does wonders for chain life... though it was on its last legs.
The shock is kebab19's R6 mod... had the parts for ages, just haven't had the time to fit it 'til now.

Hedgetrimmer - have a look at MyRoute. Combines maps with Garmin/TomTom. Best of both worlds.

Someone told me that trying to use other route planning/map systems with Garmin, rather than Garmin's own system, can be a proper pain.

What I like about the Michelin maps is that scenic routes are highlighted, and it tells you which are toll routes. For example, whilst researching routes for my trip, it seems lots of people headed for the Picos just let sat nav and maps sites choose their route for them, but if you look at the Michelin maps, they show a more scenic coastal route that stays off of motorways and main roads, that I wouldn't have known about had I used 'tech' systems to plan.

Not today but last Friday night. Over the last 2 weeks I Had issues with a bit of hesitation/surging low in the rev range on the replacement carbs (replaced due to a sticking shaft between carbs 1 and 2) and was getting progressively worse  Decide to change the TPS as these were the classic symptoms of a dodgy TPS.
Pulled out my old Carbs yesterday from the spares press removed the TPS and replaced the one currently on the bike with it.
The one on my old carbs was a modified DR400 Suzuki one.
What a difference, running like a clock while marshaling a charity cycle run yesterday :woot

Finally removed my front sprocket cover. Found out I have a 15t front sprocket and that my speedohealer has been set wrong the entire time I've had the bike!! It was set at -16.7 when it should have been -10.8 so not sure if that means it was reading fast or slow but seeing asome it affects the odometer too I was guess that's why it seems like I don't get many miles to a tank of fuel? I may have been getting more than I thought?

Fitted led indicators :)  Turned into a bit of a pain because the inline indicator resistors i bought were crap, so i got an led relay and they now work a treat.

How do you manage to hold the spacers/adapters in place?

Just ordered 4x spacers http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turn-Signals-indicator-Adapter-spacers-For-Motorcycle-98-03-YAMAHA-FZ600-Fazer-/131530405137?hash=item1e9fd2b511:g:YuAAAOSwrklVcrFt&vxp=mtr
But not sure how to attach them

I fitted them both sides of the fairing, so used 2 per indicator

Replaced the original orange H4s and sidelights with Ring +130s and blue 5w bulbs, they look a nice bright white now. I need to take it out in the dark sometime to see how well they work.

No, not really. I'm a tart you see, and don't like all those racks and stuff on the bike. And, worse than that, I'm a lazy tart, cos I can't be bothered fitting it all before a tour, then taking it off after. And I'm a tight lazy tart, cos I won't shell out for all that stuff  :lol
