Afternoon all
« on: 19 February 2013, 03:51:33 pm »
I've just put a deposit down on a rather tasty fzs1000, so thought I should start researching bits and pieces before I pick it up at the weekend.

I've been rocking about on an 02 plate Bandit 600 for the last year since getting my full license, and just coded it was time for a change.

The bandit is very clean, but there's a few little bits that aren't tip top, and won't even be unless I spend a lot more than the bikes worth, and being into detailing (cars mainly, aside from my own bikes, but looks like I might have a decent opening into doing some bikes as well) it annoys me.

So yeah, found a really nice 51 plate fzs1000 and have been offered good money (owing to tidiness!) for the bandit, so seemed like a good to time go up in the motorbiking world.

The fazer has 15k on the clock, is that funky purpley blue colour, adjustable pegs, Beowulf exhaust, scottoiler, crash bars, shorter screen with the extension bit (the name escapes me!), heated grips, carbon rear hugger, belly pan, new Michelin tyres and is in very good condition indeed.

I'll get some pictures up of both bikes soon.

Look forward to getting to know some peeps on here.

Cheers

Russ

Gorgeous colour, same as my 600.   8)

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

 :lol

If only! The Shiver in the picture was also in the running, but then I saw the Fazer and really liked it.

I had a Maruader 125 to start, that I rode around for about 6-8 months on my CBT.  Did nothing but keep it clean and it got me £100 more than I paid for it despite an additional 5k miles put on it! :lol :

Did my full license test last March and got the Bandit, that I fitted a jack up kit, replaced the brake levers, all engine bolts replaced with stainless, new clutch cover, hugger and rear faring resprayed, wrapped a few bits in 3m do-noc, undertray and new lights and new tyres. Have been riding that round for 11 months.

Bandit looks good!.. for a bandit  :b

I hope you keep the fazer as clean as your previous bikes. Both bikes look very clean! Good on you  8)

Thanks Chris.

That's the idea  ;)

My other toy is my 330, which also (unsurprisingly perhaps!) scrubs up pretty well.  Quite a few bits and pieces done to this, but this is a bike forum, so won't bore you.

There's a bunch of other people's cars I've done on Facebook if you're interested.

I need to find out what bolt sizes I need to replace the ones on the fazer engine.

Also need to figure out how to trim the standard rear tail / mudguard, like some of the ones I've seen on here.  I can't be arsed with expensive under trays and stuff this time. It was a bit of a hassle on the bandit, as I had to also fit a duck tail to the rear numberplate (after I took the picture above), as well as 2 of those bolt lights for the numberplate at night.  Looks good now, but is a lot of faffing about.  The rear of the fazer isn't quite as offensive to start, just needs a little trimming IMO.

First thing on the list of to dos I think is inspect and service this exup valve.  Cant say as that I'm  overly keen about trying to remove the bolts, as it seems them tutting seized is worrying commonplace, but it sounds like it needs to be done for peace of mind and operational longevity.

Always good to give a new bike a good going over to check how it is, I wouldn't have thought it'll be too bad with such a low mileage though. plenty threads in the thou section though i'm sure.  8)

Thanks Chris!  in the last few months shes also now been kitted out with the M3 paddle shift steering wheel (its an auto, obviously) and the newer style led rear lights, so looks fresh as a daisy now for her age!

No I don't use the detailing forums tbh.

I just do my own cars, and friends/work colleagues, etc. although had some random contact me off another forum other than our own a month ago, saying he'd heard of me (no idea how!) and wanted me to do his car. :D

I think my favourites have been a friends Porsche cayman s and another guys lotus Carlton.  (Search for RJ detailing on Facebook for the pics) .

Anyway, the guy I'm getting my fazer from is really keen for me to do his bikes he has for sale, so that might work out nicely.

Apologies if this is all going a bit OT, but hey, at least people get to know a bit about me! Lol!  I also run a BMW owners club, that's been running about 15 years now.  If anyone has as bmw I've got all the decent diagnostic software for all ages, if you need a hand.

That's what intro threads are for buddy  :D

I've been into detailing for a couple of years now. Always liked to keep my cars and things clean but really learned a lot more in the last couple of years. Like you, done a few friends and familys cars and bikes.

Goodluck with your ventures though, sounds like you're a busy man! haha.

Yeah, kinda  :lol

In between all that, I'm also into cycling (trek fuel ex7 and a specialised Allez comp road bike), as well as tinkering with house/dance music mixing, and spending time with my daughter on Saturdays!

My other car, the Pug 307 hdi passed its mot today, so that was good news, seeing as I'd committed money to the fazer by then!

Nice work on the cars, gave you an add. if you look at my pictures then there's a folder called cars and bikes, a few pictures in there of mybike and my Audi A4 I had to sell last year  :'(  and a couple of my girlfriends pickup I machined, thought it came up quite nicely.
