Link pipe size question
« on: 23 October 2011, 12:36:23 am »
At the moment I have a 58mm bore link pipe with a renegade can,as I need a quiet bike would fitting a 50mm bore link pipe have any effect to the power output? The reason is I have some blue flame titanium dual port cans that are 50mm but I don't want to fit them if they will strangle the power, for the time being I will be using a standard silencer

It won't make any discernible difference.  Most aftermarket can makers have their standard size can design and resolve any size difference between original headers and can with their link pipe diameter.  Some have very skinny link pipes, others are much wider ... all work OK. :)

I had an akrapovic with a 60mm link pipe and a 450mm can, The outlet spout was 50mm. I changed it to a a delkevic with a narrower 51mm link pipe and a shorted 225mm can, the outlet spout is 60mm. The delkevic is substantially louder. I don't think the link pipe is going to make much difference, its the length/diameter of the can that makes it louder/quieter. 8)
If it's broken, it's not fixed.
