Hi Heather,

Did you get sorted with a bike for Hubby yet?

If not, my girlfriend is selling her year 2000 FZS600, Gold and Black, in virtually immaculate condition exept for a few small marks from a zero MPH topple over.

She has owned it since new and it's covered just 2974 miles!

Currently SORNed with no tax or MOT as it hasn't been ridden in the last year.

This is one of those bikes you never find, one owner from new, completely original, always garaged and never been ridden in the wet. It deserves to go to a good home.

Price wise, similar examples with 20,000 miles are on Bike Trader for £2750 to £3000, so I guess a decent price would be £3500.

We are a little way from you, just south of Nottingham on the M1, but it isn't far to travel for probably one of the best Fazers in the country.
Focking again, second time around.

WOW!!....if I was to buy that bike off you (from Ireland), that's nearly €4,000 before clearing it with customs. I'm not saying the your bike ain't worth it mate, but I would have a hard time convincing my insurance brokers that a bog standard 13 year old bike is worth nearly €4,500 when it was only about €6,000 brand new in 2000!!

Amen to that :).  My w reg (2000) fazer 600 immaculate with 5000 miles on the clock was £1400.

There are two reasons a woman would buy her man a motorcycle:

1) They love and respect each other to the Moon and back.

2) He's got a big life insurance policy.

 :)

Do find an experienced mate to help you when checking 2nd hand vehicles. Internet forum offers.... Some fellows in this forum who's oppinion and experience I mostly respect and believe are, just to name a few, no offence meant to anyone: Raymy Boy, Richfzs, Bracechenko, Daveph, Goldfazer etc.

Fazers are good, bulletproof bikes, but there are lemons as well. I paid for mine 2001 model, with under 40.000 kilometres some  2500 euros in 2009 and it was in decent condition. Models from 2002 and 2003 have a lot better lights, but are usually some 20-30% more expensive, while the old square ligth models are Starwars cool and cheaper.

Seems you guys think the price is too high then?

I was going on what was available closest to the one we have, but I understand you're a knowledgeable bunch and respect your input.

Can you advise me what you think it's worth?

I'll put some photos up at the weekend.

SPLODGENESSABOUNDS : TWO PINTS OF LAGER AND A PACKET OF CRISPS PLEASE

No use commenting on any price. You name it - people buy or not.

Looking a bike over and letting potential buyer know what you think of it's condition is good if you are experienced and have no gain from the bike's sale.

You can put it up for the price you stated and see how you go.

My comments were based on when I bought my Bandit 1200 brand new for €10,000 in 2003 and what I would get now for it.

It's still in mint condition as it's garaged and used only in dry weather. I have been running a second bike for my all year round day to day stuff since I bought the Bandit.

I'd be lucky to get €4,000 myself now and my bike has a datatool alarm, upgraded brake lines, upgraded front/rear suspension, a Scottoiler, Comfy Bagalux Touring seat, full Givi luggage, Double Bubble Screen, Dual Tech Exhaust, Belly Pan, Pilot Road Tyres, Chain Sprockets, Brake Pads, Front Discs all new. ( See Photo below)

It's still valued at €10,000 on my policy because I just renew my policy every year with the same insurance company. But in reality, if the bike was written off in a crash I'd be lucky if the insurance would pay out €3,000. They would be looking at the going rate for a 10 year old Bandit. They won't be too interested if its mint or not.

Also there is a resale value to think about. Iif I paid you €4,000 for your bike hung onto it for about 2 years and did a modest 15k miles on it, it would then nearly fall into the same catergory as all the other Fazers (price wise) and I would lose about €2.000 in just 2 years of ownership.

They are just my thoughts as a prospective buyer. On top of that, Look at the link below, its the going rate for a just 5 year old Bandit 1250 with low mileage which is only about only a grand more to your price. Look at all the goodies it has. Now if I sold that bike on in 2 years, I wouldn't have such a heavy loss and a better resale value.

Been busy with stuff over the last few weeks, but finally got round to digging the Fazer out the garage, getting some pics done and putting it on the MCN website:

Best of luck with your sale.  I bought my 99 gold fazer with 5k miles and in immaculate condition for £1500 so it may take a while to sell.  Good luck  :D
