02-03 Mk2FZS600 headlight bulb
« on: 16 December 2012, 09:50:17 pm »
Hi,
Been advised to stick with a standard bulb, however, has anyone used a Philips X-treme Vision(+100%) for any period of time without suffering any discolouring or melting of the headlight lense unit (within the fairing housing) and without suffering any melting of electrical wiring/connectors or any other adverse affects?
Thanks

Philips say those are designed for plastic lenses... the quartz envelope filters out the worst of the UV.
As for heat... that's pretty much identical to an ordinary QH 55/60W bulb. Since a fraction more energy is leaving the unit as useful light rather than heat, in theory the headlight should run fractionally cooler!
In short, they'll be fine.
