Its on its way
« on: 12 October 2011, 07:18:38 pm »
Remember my thread about a project bike for Winter? Well its going to be her in a couple of weeks

I've done a bit of research and apparently I am going to get familiar with carbs
So - go on then - should I try to restore it and keep it as it is or aim to turn it into some tarts handbag?

is it a 250 400 or 650? I cant remember what the looked like but the xs250 I owned for a short while had the ability to make a super dream look fast...pile of shengis of the first order...but ideal as a winter hack as very reliable I guess

Don't forget, I've still got an XS750 in the garage, if there are any common parts between the two!!   :book

Helen, I took my test on an XS750. Most were the horrible custom types but the one I had was just a normal road bike. Not seen one like it for years.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again

I learned on a mate's 1983 XS250 and it had one thing going for it: it didn't have enough power to get yourself in trouble with  :lol

Sounded like a ride-on lawnmower and went about as fast as one  :z

That said, it didn't cost me anything...except two packets of metal putty to patch up the petrol tank  :eek

I hope the 400s nicer to ride, Ginge!

Restore it these are now very collectable not as much as the 650 but still collectable, dont tart it up it will greatly de-value it.

I love your optimism - I give it three or four concentrated evenings 'fixing' things and it will look like a nearly new bike that Andy has fixed.
