Car Keys and Magnets
« on: 07 October 2011, 06:52:47 pm »
Bought one of those magnetic boxes to keep a car key in and magnet to the car body somewhere, but just wondered if the close proximity of the magnet to the key and all it's electronic wizardry (imobiliser etc) could cause a problem?

Think you'll have more trouble finding some exposed metal for the magnet to stick to !!!

Not seen any reports of it in the trade papers but I would think your mobile phone is more likely to cause disruption.  If I put my train ticket in the same pocket as my mobile it screws it up and I have to get let through the barriers :grumble

The thing to watch is when you find your car missing and the insurance company ask for both sets of keys before they will pay out!
