Is it me, tyres or suspension???

Hellooo good people (and the bad ones)
On Sunday I had another (last one two weeks ago) rear wheel slide, this one a scary one still dont know how I got through it, I needed a dab with the foot, I knew those years of enduro racing would come in one day.
Ive got metzler M5's fitted and they have been ace, They still have good profile, good tread, no flat spot, correct pressures and only 1100 miles on them??? But wat else can it be? Im pretty front end heavy always have been.
Ive changed nothing and only got 4200 miles on the clock so shouldnt be suspension wear yet, I set the sag before second ride but apart from that bog standard.
My gut says change tyres but I could be throwing money away.

One-off slide?  I'd suspect the road, not the tyres.

Was the weather (road) wet or dry when it happened?
Was the bike banked over?

You say them tyres are new - what did you have on before?
Were you solo riding or two-up / loaded? What pressures are you running?
How long had you been out when it slid (could your tyres still have been slightly cold)?

I know near me, there's one particular bend, on one particular road, that *always* seems to unsettle my bike - it doesn't happen anywhere else; no idea why.

dry road, warm day, solo, 42, been riding an hour, banked over - second time its happened in a relativly short time, before these they were the OE fittment. Im so puzzled Im just looking at prices for BT023's right now..
It just lost traction not wildly spinning, sliding away like backing it in unitentially

I would say the suspension settings are off but you mention you have only set the sag. Any chance someone else has messed with your suspension?

Your milage is low but you don't say how old the tyres are. The thing I always hated about Metz was that they went from very good to very bad, very quickly. Once they broke away, they complety left the scene giving you no warning and no chance to recover. The  thing I like about bridgestones is that before they go,  they give you lots of warning...

Tyre fitted backwards?
I found MEZ3s to be great confidence destroyers the only time I tried Metz on my FZS600. After a couple of thousand miles I accidentally ran over a coach bolt which wrecked the rear... and I was quite pleased to have a good excuse to get rid of the things.

023's on, its plated, stable and predictable, tyres must have gone off, there you go it wasnt me..

I've had 023's on for the last 5000 miles and they have been brilliant with loads of depth still to go. I've been using Bridgestone tyres now for over 10 years and will stay with them as I've never had issues on my Blades or my Fazer.

I have been using Bridgestone for over 10 years and the current 023 is an excellent tyre, just got a new set, the tyre guy was trying to get me to by the Michelin pilot road 3, saying they where a better tyre. I have ridden all summer in wet and dry and am quite willing to push in the wet and they always let you know when you are nearing the limit. 023 all the way.
