IE 9
« on: 06 October 2011, 03:02:24 pm »
anyone using it?
I'm on IE 8 and I get updates everyday, sometimes a few times a day to update to IE 9. I don't know much about computers and I don't want a debate about firefox etc, just wondering is IE 9 better than IE 8  and will it change the way I browse (heard it doesn't save your favourites like IE 8 does...........any issues like this I'd like to know about before I potentially move over)
cheers

Using IE9 at home and seems OK. Tried IE9 at work and half of our internal applications didnt work properly so had to go back to IE8. Not a great deal of difference in  the look and feel though.

I've been using it for months at work and it's fine. I use Firefox at home so although IE9 is installed it rarely gets used. If it's screwing your firewall and Anti Virus Oldgit then I suggest you get a decent Security solution. I use ESET and have no troubles at all.

I tried it several times on my home computer (which is also my work computer since I'm a freelance copy editor). Each time I tried it it fouled everything up so badly that I had to use system restore to go back to IE8. I discussed it with my ISP (BT) and they say that it's still in beta (yeah, right!), so their BT Netprotect Plus, which is McAfee based, doesn't work with it. Part of the McAfee stuff also doesn't work with the latest update to Firefox. Firefox will at least work properly, but you don't get some of the McAfee features.
